Post HAPPY 133rd BIRTHDAY- July 1st

Cheers.
I know it is tomorrow but many of us are not on the board on Saturday.
I just want to invite all the North American members to my place for drinks and then to the beach for fireworks. And for all you lucky ladies I will be wearing my skin tight polyester powder blue suit.
Oh, for the non-Canadians it is Canada's birthday.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANADA!!!

133 that's it? Bah!

When America was your age, we had to walk to school, both ways, up hill, in the snow, without shoes!

Why? Because that was 1909. School Busses weren't invented yet.

The industrial revolution was in full swing, Francis Bacon and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., and Meredith Burgess were born, and Alice Ramsey was the first woman to drive across the U.S.

I wish I lived in Canada. I play ice hockey and live in Florida. In Canada there's a rink on every block.

I always wondered why the US military doesn't invade Canada?

Probably because it would be like Germany vs Poland in WWII.

Hi KC,
don't know whether it was intentional, but a US American bragging about the age of their country is somewhat amusing.

Happy 4th of July to you!!!!

Kyle,

Actually, the reason the US military would not invade Canada is that most Americans wouldn't know where Canada was!

Funny then how we celebrated the 200th birthday in 1988..

..

But maybe that's just the Aussie's for you! Any excuse for a party

Richard

edit Whoops that was 200th not 150th.. South Australia was 150 in 1986..

Your thinking of the date of Federation 1901..

133 years, is that all.

One of my mates lives in a house built in 1530 in deapest darkest wales.

His interior is the rather tastefull remains from a spanish galeon sunk during a certain european tiff.

Happy birthday Canada, your just a baby!

Hey Ashton,

You said:

I say:
Typical Canadian comment...not realizing that Canadians themselves are AMERICAN too.

(All in good humor...not meant to start an international incident)

Happy birthday Canada...nice to see you finally reach puberty.

Also, them old farts in Jolly ol England...time for the nursing home that country's soooo old.

Hehehehe

All this coming from someone who grew up in a town with an inferiority complex:

I grew up in the smallest town in the smallest county, in the smallest state.

Yeah we are ready for the nursing home, I mean my school was founded before Columbus set sail for the Caribian (little known fact no 1. Columbus never landed on the mainland and until he died thought he had discovered a back way to India)

As Eddie Izard (comedian) said "I come from Europe, you know where history comes from"

have to say the US does seem to take better care of its history than we do, we sort of take it for granted

p.s. Happy Birthday Canada

LOL Paul...that's because we're so young....and were getting started well after the written word and the printing press were invented.

Being able to document things is a great part in being able to remember history, instead of "Grandpa told me that when he used to be young the sky was pink..., so it's gotta be true".

Having written evidence of current events bodes well, or very poorly whichever, for future history.

I love that phrase, future history. Hehe.
