Default subtle muffler

what's up,

can anyone recommend a modest sounding dual, or single tip muffler for my 2.5RS for a reasonable price ($300 max)? The one I have now is ridiculously obnoxious and i'm going for something subtle, without putting the stock one back on. Thanks.

single tip? how large? The wrx muffler is very subtle, just a touch louder than stock, but dual tip. You can often get one for nearly nothing, and have a shop make the required modifications to make it fit for cheap, I had mine installed for $75.

I have the magnaflow dual 3"tip muffler with a resonator near the cat and it's 2.25" piping from the cat back. It sound very good. Not at all like a hon-duh with a fart can. I got it thru Rallispec but any custom shop near you should be able to build the whole thing for around $200.

I agree with above post...I, too, have a stock WRX cat-back exhaust that is very nice...not too loud, but doesn't restrict air flow at all...

I paid $70 for mine...

Stromung. A bit pricier.. but sounds so nice, and high quality.

I wouldn't go as far as saying Sromung was high quality... even their stainless model's have been known to rust through. That's not my definition of high quality.

I haven't heard that before. Their welds are pretty good, nice bends and beefy hangers.

Don't get me wrong, they sound great, and are nice looking, but they don't hold up to the rust belt... but I don't know many exhausts that do. My mrt muffler lasted about 2 years. The stock one will prolly out last most aftermarket ones, but isn't nearly as pretty.

the prodrive muffler for the gc sounds good, alittle deeper then stock. big oval tip and awesome welds. a touch over 300 though.

i had to have a lot of my stromung welded
the hangers were beefy but it looked like the welds might have given out in another 10k miles

i dont know if u like it, u can buy it if u dont dont

cool I have almost the exact same setup on my Legacy. The only differance is I have a single tip magnaflow instead of your dual. The sound is awesome, very deep and very growly. Does not sound like any other 4 cyl around, bar none...

although its double the amount you're looking to spend, i've always liked the brullen dual 3" or single 3.5" tip, quiet version, very subtle, and very well built

uhh confused; how the heck does a stainless steel exhaust rust

doesnt make any damn sense; even the welds are rust proof.

Prodrive WRSport Axleback...nice and quiet (although I'm also using a Greddy evo midpipe which has a resonator). Even with Borla Headers, the sound is non-intrusive.

Here are some of the vendors that carry them. You might also want to check around the vendor classifieds. They might have some specials going on.

I have a Prodrive WRSport. Before that, I had a Stromung (COBB).

Prodrive WRSport > Stromung!

All metal rusts given time. Trust me on this one, people have had durability problems w/ the stromung.
