Post No Subaru at 2000 One Lap of America?!?!?

I was looking at the entrants for the 2000 One Lap of America and couldnt' find a single Subie! What's up with that?!?!?!

Didn't a WRX finish something like 25th overall last year?

How disappointing!

Last year, Jeff Denmeade campaigned a Vermont Sportscar Lancer EVO5 to win in SSGT2 (and 5th overall)-- that gives you an idea of what type of competition to expect next year. If only ponycars compete, that shouldn't be a problem for a lighter AWD car like an Impreza.

Jeff ran a n/a '98RS in SSGT2 in '98 and somehow finished 2nd in that class.

That's what we're trying to change!! We need more Subarus out there in competition at national level events.

We're going to be at the 2001 One Lap of America. Hope to see more of you out there. You have until the middle of May 2001 to get ready!

The problem is that it would cost a small fortune to campaign a car in that event. You certainly wouldn't use your daily driver.

I'm just surprised that HKS didn't enter. Wasn't it Sport Compact Car that entered the WRX last year?

rao, I wouldn't say a small fortune-- the cars amazingly don't have to have cages and the tires are provided. considering the lengthy non-competitive distances between events, you would be spending a large amount on gas and of course taking 2 weeks off work...

it only gets real expensive if you wreck the car or get a whole bunch of speeding tickets.

yes, SCC's WRX was in the '99 one lap. if you don't have an extensive amount of road race seat time I would say forget about winning and just have fun.

Ok Colin, we'll use your car and I'll co-drive and pay for all gas and travel expenses. I'm serious.

I'll also pay for a new set of tires.
