Default Idle and hesitation problems!!!

I have a 2000 Impreza RS. the modifications i have on it are a gravel sports intake, headers, torque chip 2 piggy back, walbro fuel pump and cat back exhaust. I have the following gauges installed. Feul pressure, a/f ratio, egt, volt, boost, and oil pressure. Yesterday my car was running perfect, now today when i am on my way to class, my car starts to hesitate when im at a stop and it stalled on my a few times. The a/f fuel gauge starts reading funny, i am no longing running rich as our cars do, it says im running lean and then sometimes i am running rich but goes back to lean. My egt's are reading normal as well as my fuel pressure is reading normal. But when im at a stop, or at idle the car will hesitate and sometimes want to stall. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am in need of help bad. I am kind of out of a car untill i get this fix thanks.

Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF)

Is the "Check Engine" light on?

My car is a 2000, i do not have a MAF sensior. I have no ce light on. I checked the plugs and they are a little black, but at the tip of the plugs they are a whitish gray. Could the o2 senior be going?

that's right...no MAF on those...my bad.
could definitely be o2 - they should be replaced every 60K miles or so...

Oh, is/was your heat or a/c on? It could be the a/c compressor...

The car seems to only run rough when it is at idle, if i give it gas or give it a quick wot the car seems to move fine. when im at a stop or just in park, the car will idle rough and hesitate. i replaced the spark plug wires and put in new plugs and that doesnt seem to fix the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?

is your car running to rich? you have a walbro fuel pump on bolt on mods. do you have an after market fuel pressure regulator to keep the psi to stock at idle? maybe you burnt your o2 sensor out. if the car was running overly rich which is what 2000 rs's do then with the fuel pump upgrade it woul run even richer. if its not that then i dont know. have you hooked it up y=to see if any codes can be read? pull the o2 and see what it looks like and go fom there.

I dont have the time now, so i just dropped it off to my friends dad's shop. Ill have him look at it. But it seems like it may be the o2 not to sure. From what i heard the fuel pump will pump more fuel but it wont make the car run any richer than if it was with a stock pump. Becuase the injectors control how much will be sprayed am i correct or does it affect it more?

i remeber reading in scc that when shiv put the walbro in the fuel pressure at idle went to wer it should be at wot. he used a weapon r fuel pressur regulator to keep it from going that high. see what happens from your friends dad

I talked to my friend's dad and he said it looks to be the o2 sensor that is before the cat, the one that adjust the fuel and so forth. How much does an o2 cost at the dealer? is there any other places that carry an o2 sensor for our cars? Thanks

I just replaced my O2 for around $180, labor charges included. It only takes about 1/2 hour to have done. The part I got was about $160 or so.
I know AutoZone has them for around 60, but it's a generic one - not specific for your vehicle = pain in @$$

good luck
