Talking Fog light covers installed (at long last)

No they aren't the ones I ordered back in Feb from Gino. I gave up on those. I ordered a set from Primitive Enterprises and got them in less than a week I have pics and my version of instructions on the site:

I got the same covers but didn't put the stickers on because "Subaru Technica International" was in the wrong font. The button screws were already cut on mine, but the buttons pushed the bumper down a bit so I removed them.

I still haven't found the best no-drill-bumper mounting solution for these. There's metal behind the plastic you drill through and I don't want to encourage rust. I wonder how hard it is to get only the mounting hardware from STI, or if something similar can be rigged up from from some aluminum stips. Any pics of the STI mounting hardware out there.

As for the covers themselves, they're quite good. Not the snug fit I see in pictures of the STI covers, but more than close enough to justify the lower price.

I tried to figure out a way do w/o the drilling too but for these I couldn't see how to do it either.

Peaty,
Did you ever order that 14mm allen wrench? I got mine Tuesday and it cost me all of $3.01 shipped.

what kind of paint did you use, and the color needs less blue and more yellow. Other than that looks good. that is a lot like what my future car is gonna look like.

I forgot to respond to imprezive's question about the paint. I used some Dupli color number "DS FM 226 Silver M" I put a few light coats of that on and then followed that with their clear coat. I used some polishing compound, the Meguires polish step and then some wax. The color isn't exact but it is close.

Well I got my cover the other day and I am going to get them painted ASAP. I noticed the sticker that say "Subaru Technica Internaional" is in the wrong font. So I e-mail Dale Teague and he has the right one in White for my BRP sedan. SWEET!!!!
I can't wait to get them painted.

hey fellas...i just got my covers this past weekend....Peaty's instructions pics helped out a lot....thx bro for that site!

I had 1 ?, i called the dealership where i purchased the car from and they said that BRP is only avalible in touchup bottle form and have to be preordered. I found this odd since i know paint shops don't use "fingernail brushes and bottles" to paint front ends and what not!

any help would be greatly appreciated chaps....peace!

If you can get the touchup paint, then get one of those air brush kits made for models you can probably use that to do the painting. I don't think the airbrush thing is too exp. look in your local hobbey shop.

Just a thought.

OK, I'm disappointed in you guys... You're forgetting the two driving forces behind DIY modifications :

1. Duct tape
2. Industrial-strength Velcro

I ended up getting the genuine covers from Challenger Deep(deep in my pockets). prepainted with the correct stickers, heat sheild, brackets and got them in two days.
There went a weekend of overtime.
