Question If You Had Only $3000, Which Turbo Kit ?

I have $3000.00 to spend on a turbo kit. So far it looks like the JC Sports kit is the only one in that price range. Anyone know of any others?

The Minnam kit is just too expensive. The Ludespeed kit looks pretty good but is not available yet. Any other suggestions?

my idea would be to call any subi tuning service and tell them that the budget is 3k and see what they can do for you. id suggest someplace close so you could drive there and save on delivery costs.....

I think a couple of people might have used turbo kits for sale, also.

IMO, I'd stash the money and wait until you could buy the kit you want based on features, not on how much money you have right now.

I know it's damned near physically painful not to mod the Sube, but the end result would be more satisfying.

To be honest, I want the Rimmer super-charger kit. I have heard so many bad things though. I am still trying to e-mail him myself to see if all of the problems with the kit have been worked out. He doesn't respond though.......

DON'T DO IT!! That's just nuts. You'll have to skimp somewhere- fuel delivery, the turbo itself, other parts that need to be up-rated... it's going to end in heart break. The broken heart will be the cheapest thing that'll be broken, actually. The guys at Rallispec say don't even think about it unless you've got between $5K and $7K. Just my $.02

yeah, assuming you haven't already, spend that 3k elsewhere -

cold air intake
headers
exhaust
under-drive pulley's
suspension mods

You'll be a lot happier, and get better gains, doing all of that with your 3k, than trying to go budget on a turbo.

the Ludespeed turbo kit is available. Write to Tom@Ludespeed.com and he'll hook you up. There was a group buy on these kits at the begining of Dec. Ludespeed is in the process of building these kits now!

Read up on JC's delivery issues, I'd spend it on a Minnam/Vishnu kit or a Ludespeed kit.

One little word about the Ludespeed kit. It is being made by one(1) man. He has taken this as his fulltime job. He started a GB back in Dec. and it is expected to deliver sometime in February. Since he is a one man operation, he is not taking any new orders until the GB is finished. The quality on his kits seems to be top notch. Just go to his site and look. http://turbo_25rs.tripod.com/

Now with all that said, my preferences currently are custom legacy/wrx turbo kit (user modification required), ASR, or Ludespeed. I was considering JC Sports, but their price jump is unbearable. Faraz (of TRI Tuning) mentioned that the Vortech SC kit was(read: they blew the motor and the project ceased) being devloped locally to me, so I am in the process of trying to find out who that is.

I'd say wait for it and do it up properly. That is, get the turbo, get the fuel management system, get the gaskets, get the gauges, reserve some time at a dyno and you will be better off in the end. Don't forget to include labor costs/time.

Just my opinion though.

Well luckily I can do all of the work myself so that will save me ALOT of money. I have been checking out the LudeSpeed kit. Looks like it might be a good kit! If anyone has installed this kit, please let me know what you think.
