Cool wow...i killed a prelude...think it was around MY99

alright....it was about 11 pm I guess....was on my way to school to do a little organic chemistry studying...and I saw a nice Prelude in the rear view coming....gets up the turn light together, i'm looking at his fire extinguisher (god knows how many fires he must put out with it), his stickers, blah blah blah...he did have an exhaust (probably the only semi performance mod he went for, purely for sound of course) and as we turned....he started to show off (he had two girls in the car with him) by downshifting into 3rd from 5th...so I just catch up with him........roads are completely open...so I just catch up with him still in 5th, cruising at about 55 mph...wait for him to start getting on the pedal again, drop it into 3rd, we both take off....damn...I killed him....I know he was giving it his all...his car was screaming....feel bad for him....next light...he kinda hid in the background instead of pulling up next to me....pretty funny...
I know these cars are faster than that, he must.....but my car seems to pull an aweful lot through all gears...especially on a nice cool night..
Mods I have aren't anything impressive...just short shifter, pulley, nice tires, a few tiny weight reductions (such as spare tire/jack/tools removal, (stromung SS dual with 2.25 midpipe will be installed this weekend) and MY00...I don't race very much because it's rather unsafe to others...but this was on a road that was 3 lanes...not residential, speedlimit is 55 anyway...not many lights...so it was a good opportunity...oh well...better feel good about it this time..next time I'll run into a VTEC....might be a bit different...hehe

I like the way you listed MY00 as a mod.

Of all my imaginary friends I had as a kid I don't think there was a single one that I didn't eventually have to kill. Its just a shame really. I feel sorry for the people who live there now. They may never know they have a backyard full of buried dead imaginary friends. But good job on your kill Keirik.

In 1999, all Preludes had VTEC putting out 195hp. If he didn't have a wing, that just means he's not a Type SH, which means that he doesn't have ATTS (dead weight) and he's not guaranteed to be a manual. The base model Preludes came with an optional 4 speed sport shift. If it was a manual, this Prelude driver sure doesn't know how to keep the car in VTEC because you wouldn't have pulled on him especially with his 30hp advantage. Then again, he had passengers and a little less torque. Most likely, he was in the wrong gear and had a sport shift.

You guys seem to forget one key point in this scenario: Those two betties in his ride are costing him between 200-300lbs of weight. That is plenty to knock him out of contention with you even if he could beat you stock. Don't mean to burst your bubble, but you didn't really beat a 'lude.

were the girls in the car a little heavy? maybe it was the extra weight that slowed him down?

Hey I wasn't aware I was getting stranger then usual. It must be working for Satan, picking up the extra work from the chick out on maternity leave, longer unpaid hours, high costs of repairing the Nissan, no Impreza update in the newest SCC, wanting to smack Byron around for being such a damn lier, the maddening silence in my office, I missed the last episode of Top Gear, and I stopped taking my medication. I haven't been able to narrow it down yet but I think it may be one or a combination of the things above. On the brighter side I did get the Nissan fixed. Only $1,000 to get it fixed correctly. Its usually more fun at times like this to let my mind wander. I don't see the big issue with numbers of the cars. Doesn't auto-x prove that it comes down to the drivers. You in a division with very simular cars and just different drivers. You can't all be the best and place first. We also can't give stats on the other drivers. It isn't like we get tested by Road and Track and SCC.

Angry

I guess this quote sums it up,
"betterfeel good about it this time..next time I'll run into a VTEC....might be a bit different...hehe" However, I'm not saying you can't beat a 'lude. just that it wasn't really a fair race.

My math says 2 girls weighing 100-150 lbs. equals 2-300 lbs. Stick to the OC cuz math doesn't seem to be your strong suit.

I'll confess I think street racing is stupid, juvenille and dangerous. On my way home the other night I saw a rolled SH 'lude. They needed the jaws of life to remove and save the guy and his girfriend. On the news that night they said they were looking for the driver of the other car in this race. So, maybe I did mean to burst your bubble. I think the daily wasting of bandwidth I see on this site from guys talkng about I beat an "X", I beat a "y" is silly. Now tht I've said my peace, I will just stop reading those posts and stop preaching cuz it's your life until you kill someone else.

Question

ok..the whole point of me even giving this post was the idea of "wow, i actually beat one in a race" when i even mentioned they are faster....hence the "next time i might not be so lucky" comment at the end of my message. then I get people preaching to me about what I should or should not do in my spare time at 11 pm on a deserted road. Just doesn't make sense to me sometimes....i get people quoting something i said about next time me not being lucky..yeah..i agree with you...that is why i said next time i wouldn't be so lucky..and "wow" and these kind of words...
jesus..some people need to stop being so damn serious about everything...I race like 5 times a year on the street..and get preached about it...sorry..i'm not a 16 yr old kid or something who knows everything about nothing...
personally..I think our cars are rather slow compared to most in it's class...
by the way Matt...ok, two asian girls at about 100 lbs each...200 lbs...I'm 6-2, 195 lbs...does that mean the race was still extremely unfair? Then again...math isn't my strong suit (i guess all those college years of calculus, physics, and biostatistics didn't pay of..darn)... and it could have been a sumo wrestler driving also, so i'll just stop now.....i said my peace.

Actually it has been on the news here in Japan a couple times since getting here about the rising rate of heart disease and over weight kids and teens. Witht he new faster moving society many are eating more and more fast food and working at computer related jobs. The poor diet that is being seen here in Japan now is causing the health of the younger people to decline. Then again its true the driver could have been a sumo. The stereotypical view of Asians as being thin or short isn't very accurate. If you consider the US where 60% are said to be over wieght the odds get even better. Keirik didn't say he raced in traffic or a school zone. He also doesn't post Kill stories all the time. This is the only one I can recall infact. The bottom line is the drivers do play a major part in racing. Keirik also never said his car was stock. I like to see the tech info but in close races we can't use the info to call the person a lier or to say he'll lose the next time. The info is pertinent to race stories about beating a Porsche. Hell I've beaten a WRX in a race with my Primera before but I also lose to them.

N/A.....thanks...appreciate your view about things..to be honest..I think I'll never post something like this again and only like the 3rd or 4th time I even raced a car that wasn't on a major highway, or track. I think the whole thing was taken way too seriously anyway....I was just trying to share an experience I had, one I was surprise about too....
about the asian comment I made...yeah, it did sound stereotypical...I wasn't meaning it in that way...hey, my gf is asian....she's my fiance...she has some fat friends....ha....just the Prelude guy, I've seen him on the univesity campus before, so I just kinda knew the people he was around, since I saw them in the car....I didn't realize I had to list every detail to get satisfaction out of this whole thing..If I could, I'd just take the thread back, and it would all be over. I don't know..just a bunch of us seem to post more than others...and it kinda does feel like we all know each other a little..so I was sharing a bit about just the night I had, and how I had a few minutes of joy in an otherwise uneventful night of staring at cycloalkanes and other organic compounds...sory if this all got blown way out of proportion...just don't appreciate the tone I recieved about what my strong points are, and are not, just because i raced a prelude on an empty 3 lane road at 11 pm that has the same speedlimit as a highway..ok.back to looking at organic compounds now...

yeah...they were two 300 lb asian girls...you see that all the time...uh huh...no, the people in the car weren't extremely fat or anything...don't remember if it had a wing or not, but don't remember it having one...and the "sorry to burst your bubble thing" that just's funny to me..anyway...I posted my thoughts on winning/losing a race...
and I don't mean to burst any bubbles, or step on any toes...but yeah..I did beat a Prelude in a race last night....that is fact..if he can't drive his car to full potential...that's his problem...I'd like to hear an interview with like Colin McRae saying "well, i hate to burst Burnsies bubble..but my car has more hp...he didn't beat me blah blah blah"..come on guys..stop being so fixated by numbers..or here..I'll give ya a nice idea..take any car in the world...anything you want...Ferrari, Porsche..whatever...take it to a parking lot..leave it there..I'll park mine next to it..we'll wait and see which one jumps out in front while we sit there chillin with a few beers...just make sure you bring a lot of beers...it's gonna be a long wait... obviously there are some cars you don't need to be a good driver to win in...but I hardly think the PRelude qualifies as a car that is so far ahead stock speed wise, that any jack o a$$ with stickers can take our cars.
