I'm thinking about getting one of these as a beater.
Look at the hood picture of this one.

Yeah nice scoop
![]() I had an 84 GLH, non-turbo. They're fun cars, but still a cheap Chrysler K-car at heart. That one looks interesting if you can get it cheap, but it may not be that reliable as a beater since it's modded and they were prone to blowing up anyway. |

Too bad no TMIC under that scoop. My neighbor growing up had one of these things. With no headrest in the backseat, I always had a permanent case of whiplash.
3500 a little high, but for a fun toy car, I'd buy |

I thought the Omni only got the 2.2L Turbo-I and Turbo-II(GLH-S)? I guess among the other things done I guess a 2.5 upgrade isn't a huge stretch. |

It did come with a 2.2L
Not sure if that is a typo or if he did a transplant. |

It's still a K car, but I will admit that the GLH was a gem amongst all the rubbage.

That car would be sweet to have!!
The 2.5 block is out of a mini van that dodge built! The Super 60 stuff is from MP. You can go over to turbododge.com and see all of the 2.2 omni's that you want. There is a guy over there with a minivan running in the 12s Yikes Super!! |

Don't. Seriously.
The Omnis had a horrible service record, the seats suck, the driving position blows, and they were prone to horrifying their drivers with a bizarre tendency to lose control. My mom's Omni did it and it wasn't even a GLH. What happens is that in a sharp turn, at speed, any attempt to straighten out was met with a VIOLENT turning of the front wheels from full lock all the way over to opposite full lock and back again and again. This was powerful enough to break your hand if you weren't careful. The only way to correct was to pray and let off the gas and wait for it to stop. I think Car & Driver mentioned this in their original review of the GLH. The car didn't always do this but it was hard to predict the conditions in which it would. Needless to say it's not worth it. |

10 years ago I had a 1983 Plymouth Turismo, and wanted very much to GLH-ify it. My dad said if I could save the money for the parts, he'd help me do the swap.

The van I believe had a 2.2 also, but they made a 2.5 "High Torque" motor in some of the 1990-1991 Shelby Daytonas. |

Hey all,
I had a 85 Shelby Charger and I thought for the time that it was awesome!! I paid 4 grand for it and abused it!! I personnally did not have any of the handling problems that were mentioned above but it might be because my car had equal lenght half shafts! I took it to the track a couple of times and got quite a few 14.9s that were extremely traction limited! For what it was I thought that it was a great car!!Super ![]() |
