Default What wire do I cut of the OEM alarm for a TT to work?

Yes I know I don't NEED a turbo timer so move along if you feel the need to tell me what YOU think......

I have the TT installed and running like it should. I know I need to cut a couple of wires on the OEM alarm to get it to arm while the car is running.

I have an 04 STi and all the links on this forum say to cut a green wire with a black stripe on the relay and a gray wire on the alarm for the 02 WRX.

What I need to know is, what are those wires?

I have the pinouts for the STi alarm and just need to know what needs to be cut. I'm assuming it's the ignition wire in pin 2 but want to confirm all this before I go and cut anything.

What is the wire that needs to be cut at the realy?

Any help would be much appreciated.

1) locate the dark green/black wire off the keyless entry module this allows you to lock the vehicle while the turbo timer is operating

2) cut the grey wire off the security module, this is the ignition sensing wire. please note cutting this wire will prevent you from manually disarming your alarm in situations where you have misplaced your keyfob or lack of battery power. you may choose to install a toggle switch and wire inline to the grey wire off the security module to allow you to disarm your alarm in those types of occasions.

That is helpful but what I really need is the exact pinout of the 2002 WRX security system and keyless entry module. That way I know for sure what wire I need to cut by cross-referencing the 2004 pinouts listed here:

The wires are different colors for the STi. That's why I need the pinouts the 2002 WRX has. Everyone has referenced the color of the wires and not the physical pinouts.

Anyone want to crack open their dash and center console and count them out for me.

THanks Mike!

That confirms that the pinouts for the 02 WRX and 04 STi are the same, just the wire colors are different. Pin two is the one that is cut (Ignition). 02 WRX = gray, 04 STi = green/ blk stripe.

Next step is to verify the pinouts for the keyless entry system, specifically the dk green/ blk stripe wire that needs to be cut. What is it's physical location in the plug?

remove the driver side dash, it's left of the upper steering column area next to the integrated module.

It's exactly where he said it was, it is mounted to a little bracket. It is kinda deep but you should be able to see it once you take off the underdash

Thanks again Mike, yeah I knew where both control modules were, just needed to verify the pinouts of each for the 02 vs the 04.

Looks like they are the same, Pin 2 on the alarm module and pin 14 on the keyless module.

I need to double check mine just to be sure.

Okay I know where the Keyless Blackbox is but where the hell is the security module I cant find it anywhere and according to this discussion there are 2 steps, one is cutting the green black wire and the second is a gray wire is this right ?

it's behind your glove box... also, it may not be a grey wire since you're not using the 02/03 extension security harness. the wire you need to snip is located at Pin 2.

okay all I cut was the Green Black Wire on the blackbox on the drivers side and guess what it wasnt the second pin it was in the middle of the harness. Works fine I can now lock my car with it running. I don think the gray wire is required on our cars if the only wire I cut was the one described above. let me know if something isnt going to work on my car now lol ! thankyou

well, you did ask where the security box was... it's behind the glove box for the sti. if you cut the green/black wire off the keyless entry module you won't be able to reprogram new remotes until you reconnect this wire.
