Arrow Clutch poll for SOA

Hello everyone,
I recently e-mailed SOA about my shuddering clutch, which many of you have problems with. They came back saying they have no records of an occuring problem so there is nothing they can do at the moment. I told them there ARE many people that have this problem so with this post, I hope to be able to prove it to them.

So, here is what I'd like to do. Please post the following if you have had this clutch problem:

Name:
Model:
Year:
Miles when the clutch started to shudder:
Have you been to a dealer for the problem?:
State you live in:
E-mail address:

If you are hesitant to post any of those fields, you can leave them out. Please only post once (edit if you have to)and only post the info above. We have almost 2000 members so we shoud be able to make a point here. Lets try to keep this neat and cross your fingers!!

Thanks,
-Steve

They replaced the entire clutch housing, clutch, flywheel, pressureplate around 28K miles. That's how long it took them to admit there may be a problem.

It's now 35900 miles, and it's been back into the dealer again for the same symptoms. But this time..."Sorry, we can't re-create it". Bite me. Bite me real hard. Now my warranty's up.

As a matter of fact, met with my SOA area rep today (06/29/2000) for it, the dealer has ordered the parts under warranty. I expect a new clutch sometime next week!

RSchwarzwalder@snip.net

Just an update: Got the pressure plate, clutch, and some gaskets replaced under warranty while I also had the SPT shifter installed. MUCH better clutch and shifter feel.

Have you been to a dealer for the problem?: Yes. Told my dealer it was a common problem with this group. The service team leader said he had never heard of it before. I made sure he has it in the service record that I described the problem at a very low mileage. I am still considering what I should do. They don't seem to willing to help.

Its funny they have no record of this problem as I too emailed them describing the clutch shuddering problem about four months ago. I also sent the URLs to the sections of this list and the list on the Checkpoint websight where the subject was being discussed in length. They won't publicly admit there is a problem otherwise they'll be legally held responsible and fix all of the affected cars. If they keep denying the issue exists even if they know about it, they won't have to fix as many of our clutches. Just those that really make a stink about it. What's the use of buying a new car w/ a warranty if all the company has to do is say the problem doesn't exist so they don't have to fix it?

I would like to add that my clutch didn't shudder but the throwout bearing was squeaking and the dealer found the whole clutch(flywheel, pressure plate, clutch, throwout bearing) needed to be replaced.
