News 100 Acre Wood Club Rally

It's time to start planning your trip for this year's Club Rally Championship. As in past years, it's being run in and around Salem, MO (2hrs SE of St. Louis) on Friday and Saturday Feb. 20-21, 2004. Of course many volunteers are needed to pull this off and spectating will be limited this year due to the new rules. So if you're coming let me know and you can watch from the best spots as Control workers or Marshalls. Contact me at mso4qd@charter.net or check the websites later in the year as more info becomes available: 100aw.org or stlscca.org.

Thanks

I went last year and it was great. It was the first rally I ever attended. I am going again and this time I am bringing my WRX. Those were some of the best roads I have seen in my life!!!

I want to work this, but last year the day before I was to drive down there my car was rear ended and it went into the shop for a month.

it snowed some last year and was a$$ cold. two years ago it was in the 60s. welcome to Missouri, where invading dry, cold air from Canada fights to the death with warm moist air from the Golf in a battle for midwest supremacy.

as for spectating, anyone can. however, you will be limited to designated specator areas (i.e. no more walking into a stage). however, if you volunteer to help marshall the event, not only do you get to go to different areas on the stage (basically watch the cars and make sure no one who isn't supposed to be there is) and you get a bunch of cool stuff. i have no idea what they have this year, but in years past it has been an event t-shirt and a subaru rally team hat, and subaru is sponsoring the event once again. oh, and free Fat Tire Ale at the banquet

Wild a$$ cold is right! I can still feel the wind.

I really hope it snows this year. Last year we missed snow by one day. Right now the powder is falling in KC.

don't say that! R700s are terrible in the snow!

as for maps, get the Missouri Atlas and Gazzetier. has ever road in the state in it (more or less of course). the only thing i don't like about it is that it doesn't differentiate between lesser paved roads and gravel roads.

also, there will be directions and maps to the spectator areas and such.

That's exactly what I was going to suggest. The DeLorme Atlas and Gazetteer is excellent. Any book store should have them.

I plan on using mine as a supplement to the event maps. You can never have too many maps.

Rally marshalls wanted: You will get to see all the cars in at least 2 stages each day, a free event t-shirt, some sort of Soob hat, free dinner on Sat. and free Fat Tire Ale (as mentioned above). Lots of photo opps. We'll need you to come to Ellington, MO on friday around 10-11am to register and again in Salem, MO at 8-9 am to register and meet up with you stage group. As far as weather goes, bring your mittens and your shorts. We haven't figured out which we'll need yet.
For those of you in StL or Salem area, we are having worker training sessions on 2/12, 2/13, and 2/15. Email me for the details or check www.100aw.org

Rally Stuff

100 AW updates:
Spectator maps won't be available until you get down there and should be at a lot of the stores/gas stations, etc. in the towns. Just in case you don't know, spectating this year is only allowed at official spectator areas. There is one near Steelville, which is the closest if you're coming from StL. It's stage 3 and will be hot around 2:15pm. There's another on stage 2 & 4 -- same spot -- at noon & 3:00. Also one on stage 5 around 4:30. These are all for Saturday. There's two more on Friday.

If you want to Marshall and have your own spectating spot without locals and kids milling around, come to Ellington, MO Friday at 10-11am or Salem, MO on Saturday at 8am to register and get your free stuff.

So you don't know the exact locations of spectator points or the exact time of each stage? Can you tell us where we can pick this information up (Like an specific gas station). I don't want to drive all the way down there and then be looking for information from store to store.

Will there be some kind of "meet & greet" with all of the cars and drivers? Like some kind of ceremony?

Is the schedule info up to date on 100aw.org. The dates look good by it says 2003.

yeah. Saturday at 10:00 all the teams are supposed to be parked along main street, Salem; where you can walk among them, take photos and what not, and mingle.

Yes, that's correct.

This is a really big deal in Salem, so I'm betting most stores will have programs. I'm sure Casey's will have them--they're on hwy 19 across from Dent Co. Motors right in town. If you're going Friday, go to Sinclair gas station in Ellington for a program.

The schedule on website is correct, even tho it says '03 (oops). We have so many things to organize, the website seems to fall behind in updates. Hope to do better next year.

I forgot to mention where to register. City Hall in Ellington on Friday at 10am. Dent County Motors (on hwy 19 right in town next to Chamber of Commerce) on Saturday at 8am

thanks

Are these "official" programs at these stores? If someone from 100aw is printing them and giving them to the stores why couldn't they scan one and put it on the web?

Thanks for the quick reply!
