A little x-mas present for myself...
Just a general question, not looking at one on ebay in particular.

Personally, I'd just buy a new one. Better to spend the extra $100 and get some package deal with it and know it'll work than to spend your $80-$100 and get a piece o' crap.

a new xBox just isn't worth $180 to me though because I only want it for Halo. In fact, I just call a "Halo Machine" |

Really? I mean think of all the time and enjoyment you get out of it. If you spend a lot of time using it, then it's a great investment.
We have a PS2 and an XboX, and I definitely say that they have gotten their value's worth of play time on both of them. ...and no one is to say you can't buy the one online, I'm just saying if it were me, I'd buy the new one. ![]() |

How to save money buying an Xbox (or any electronic item for the mattter):
1. Find a broken/used item on eBay. They are usually a lot cheaper than how much the brand new item would be. 2. Find a store that sells the exact same item. 3. Buy the used/broken item from eBay and buy the same brand new item from the store. 4. Return the used/broken item to the store. Keep the brand new one. 5. TADA! You just got a brand new item for the cost of a used one. |

It could be one like mine. I bought mine the first day they were out and now the DVD drive has degraded to the point where I can only watch DVD movies with it. Games don't work for crap, it keeps telling me I have dirty discs. I even took the drive out and cleaned it with compressed air ... no difference.
Get a new one. |

I don't think it has anything to do with ability, I think it has to do with will.
Just for kicks, I'd like to see a 4-year-old do it, as you say. |

almost a good idea, but you forgot one thing that will get you busted.... when you buy a video game system in the store, they do not scan the box its in... they have a cut out on the back that allows the actual barcode on the bottom of the system unit itself to be scanned.... so in order to get away with this, you need to transplant the broken parts, out of the old xbox, into the one you just bought and vice versa.... or if your slick enough, just switch the stickers, but its pretty hard, once you start to pull them off, the words VOID VOID VOID appear all over the sticker... (same with the sticker holding the case together). you can however just eat up the glue with a hair dryer, and it peels of without voiding anything.... as far as xbox on ebay, thats where i got mine, $85 bucks shipped.... then bought a modchipfor $40.... definently gotten its money's worth... even if its only for a multimedia station (movies, music, emulators) i barely play xbox games on it haha... |

We bought a X-box on ebay...
It sounded like a good idea, but a month later it decided to quit reading discs. Save yourself the headache and buy a new one... (BTW Hi, I'm new..) |
