correct and you also have a emergency brake switch so you have to have the car in neautral and pull the E brake up twice and then take the key out the car stays running till u exit the car

there are no wires that run to a manual tranny except for a ground wire, so there is no way to do that..

remote start systems work by pressing brake and gas at the sametime, that way the alarm knows u are in neutral before u get out of the car

I don't know about the older model Subarus, but the '02-up definitely has a neutral position switch on the trans that can be used to signal a device such as a remote starter that the car is or isn't in neutral.

what about those with a factory alarm/keyless entry? Is there anyway to just add on a starter? or no...?

This thread looked promising, but it has not been finished.
Can anyone finish this one?

have you actually PULLED a MT out of a subaru?? there are 2 switches in the side of the transmission with a harness running right down the top of the trans.

1 switch is for the reverse lights

1 switch is the neutral saftey switch

the remote start will only engage if the e-brake is on and the car is in neutral. it's as simple as that, as soon as the brake is touched, the e-brake dropped, or the clutch depressed it will quit.

Uhhh... you don't need all that extra crap, Subaru built in a neutral safety position switch which allows you to use ANY alarm to remote start the car safely.

ahahahaha...I'm getting my remote start for FREEE!!!111 (ok, one too many E's.)

My boy works for some company that designs alarm systems for GM and he's hooking me up with a free alarm and remote start. I'll let you guys know how it turns out next week. I'm getting it done Friday.
