Angry Does any one else have this problem???

This is the second time in two weeks--To the day that I nearly lost my car to some STUPID A$$(sorry 'bout the caps) who just is not paying attention.
I have to travel on the West Side Hwy into Manhatten every evening to go to work and at times the road can be a lot of fun, some of you have driven it I'm sure. But there are some awful on ramps --two in particular is where my near and I mean by a HAIR near miss.
The first was where the WSH and people getting off the george washington bridge. both roads are two lanes on there own but when they merge, both center lanes become one lane-arggg-stupid. So I always travel in the left lane as to avoid people not looking as they merge but this one moron in a mercury mistique decides that the person he is merging in behind is going to slow and just keeps on coming into MY lane-Without looking!!!! Now on the WSH there is a concrete wall the sepreates N and S bound traffic-he nearly out me through that wall!!!
He slowed after I laid on the horn and he pulled behind and waved as if to say "sorry" then took of at aroud 80--
Now there is another on ramp that traffic getting on has to stop before they can join traffic. Another stupid on ramp because they don't have a long entrance lane onto the Highway. So today I am traveling in the middle lane, there is no trafic in the right lane whatsoever, at about 70mph. The onramp I just decribed is further south, I think it is the 72nd st entrance, and this Brilliant Individual (are you picking up my sarcasim?)in a ford escort ZX2 sport decides that he wants our cars to become fonda civescort ZXSI 2 and just goes from the entrance ramp right into the center lane. I am assuming that he was doing something more important then driving like talkiong on a phone or something and did not notice me there having the right of way. Now, I consider myself to be a safe driver and am always trying to keep aware of what other drivers around me are doing. With that, the right lane was completely open and I did not think he would just keep coming over--Man was I wrong--He missed taking my right side off and sending me for a good spin--by millimeters.
There really is no escuse for moronic driving like these two people have shown me in the past two weeks.
I am afraid that my car will be taken from me soon by these poeple(better my car then me) but still-
There is no excuse for this!!!
I do wish that we had stricter measures when it came to getting a drivers licence--Like Germany or the UK. People here just take it for granted WAY to much here and it is a shame cause they ruin it for everyone else

Thanks fro listening. I am done with my rant and sorry for the length--

Dan

The only times I was ever in an accident were when I got to Japan. Ironically both times I was hit by Americans. When military people come to Japan they don't have to take any drivers test at all. They just show proof of a US license and then they can drive here. Not a good idea since we drive RHD here and we also get alot of snow. They're like Kamikaze pilots.

You mean the open book 20 question thing that they give. Can you identify this street sign kind of questions. They don't have a driving course or even check your driving record. The govs test is definately a joke. They don't even have to drive around with the rookie stripes on the back of the cars. Granted the Y on the license plate does point them out. Luckily I don't have one of those.

NeedaScooby, where in Westchester do you live? If you don't mind me asking. So far that's the closest to home I have seen on this site.

Dan,
What about mass transit? There's no way I could drive into Manhattan every day. It's nuts!
Be careful out there.

Needascooby,
Could that have been you I spotted about a month ago near Stuyvesant HS (Chambers and WSH). It was a silver 99 2dr driven by a guy in his early to mid thirties.

Tim, no unfortunatley my screen name says it all. At the moment I am in a fbp 99 civic si
I bought it a year ago before I had a real job and couldn't afford one-now I am stuck debating wheather or not I will be able to afford the new WRX whenever it arrives or if I should get a 97 A4 1.8t and play with it--a lot I've always been an audi fan-my pop had 5. I escpecially loved the way the 97 BTCC car looked, aggressive yet understated. It is all still in the air till FHI decides to give us some straight answers.(sorry bout the length)

Dennis,
I would love to take the train in but I work from 4pm to 2am and metronorth stops running at 1:15am
At least my work pays for the parking, thats something-right.

thanks fellas, for the good thoughts
