Default 2000 Legacy Underdrive Pulley

So I just won an underdrive pulley for my Legacy off eBay...hey for $40 you cant go wrong...anyways...


I got a 2000 Legacy, I read in the auction description that you need new Belts, is this true? If so, why?

The pulley is a smaller diameter (that is why they call it an underdrive) and thus the center to center dimension is shorter with that setup.

The adjusters probably don't have enough travel to take up the slack.

That is why most only do an aluminum pulley, not underdrive.
