Default compression check questions

I'm going to do a compression check friday when I go into work, and just wanted to know what the normal compression for a 98 2.5 rs is on each cylinder. Thanks

Courtney

15? 15 what psi? I've never done one before my boss showed me how, he read the gauge while I cranked it over. He said I got 175 on 2 & 4, 125 on 1 and 0 on 3. so deffinately need to take a head off. Thanks for the help anyways.

Did something happen to your motor for you check the compression, or did you just feel like doing it? Those numbers are scary... what happened?

Some one talked me into taking my car somewhere to be worked on, usually I do all the work myself. I had a few bent valves, dumb mistake on my part. so anyway after this guy finishes, I get my car back and a few days later it dies. I know he used napa parts instead of subaru, if it makes a difference, and figured that the timing belt broke or something. So the next day I take the cover off and see that some teeth are stripped off the belt. then I notice that the right intake cam isn't moving, later to find that an oil passage was blocked somehow and cause the cam "guide" to not get oil and it ground the cam down reall nasty like, and also really fubared the guides on the head side. I talked the guy into paying me to fix it and paying for parts (long story), so he gets a complete head for the one side. after I fix it and get it running, and notice how rough it runs, he says " oh yeah I didn't even think about it but I bet you got some bent valves on the left side" so a compression test later and now I gotta basically do the same thing all over again. oh well it's fun to a point.
