Post Subaru- old school

So, today I'm doing the spring cleaning thing, and I found 3 pictures of my very first "car" (and my very first Subaru). I say "car" because it was a 1984 BRAT, auto transsmission, shift on the fly 4WD, roll bar, jump seats in the back... man I loved that thing. Bratmantlz and Peaty can sympathize I'm sure, but I wanted to share...

This one belongs to a friend of mine. He likes to restore old Subarus in his free time.

And here's my old ride:

Question

Do you guys know if anyone hooked up any old-school brat turbos for speed? You know...add intercooler, turn up the boost, things of that nature. I'm curious!

I always see them climbing steep embankments and going through trails.

Thanks everyone! I loved that thing... I'm trying VERY hard to get another one- there's one here in town actually Kevin, actually, they did come out with a 1.8 turbo engine (same engine as in the RX) for the BRAT's very late in the game. One of the guys here in NH has a BRAT with no hood- because it has a small block V8 in it If I do eventually get the BRAT and an STi engine for the RS, the BRAT will get the 2.5 if I can help it At any rate, quirky, boxy, but a lot of fun it was

I took the Brat with some guys in the back jump seats to a sand pit and started hopping over stuff. Almost got the guys in the back to loose their lunch because they were sitting backwards and couldn't see what was coming. It was a funky ride. There were some bolts to turn to get the suspension to raise and lower. One in the back and 2 in the front if I remember. I always wanted one with the Halo roof, I thought that was sweet. We had 3 all told. Each one went over 200K and the motor kept running. Mostly they just rusted away.

Gone but not forgotten.

Brian,
I got my first speeding ticket in a Brat just like that. Then my brother flipped it, got it fixed, then flipped it again. Bummer! You'll never see a brat it that kind of condition around where we live again. A friend of mine still plows with his Bratt-----yes snow plows!
