It is probably the heat shields.

Crawl under the car and tap on the shields with a screwdriver handle. Loose ones will sound different.

I use SS safety wire wrapped over thetop of the shield and under the bottom of the pipe. Twist it tight and off you go.

You could remove the shields, but I wouldn't.

Why can't I remove the shields. Does it go that hot?

Sounds like it could be the heat shields, but it could actually be your exhaust shaking and rubbing on something. Happened to me and my friend. I ordered the urithane hangers from kartboy and if you try to move the muffler it will not go anywhere! I used 3 on mine and didn't feel like doing the one on the mid pipe so I just gave that one to my friend and his barely moves. I had a problem with scraping my exhaust on the ground too, because I have springs, and I maybe hit once on this huge ass speed bump. They are only 35 bucks for 4. Great investment.
