Thumbs up Forester XT (FXT): 13.84 @ 96.27

Here's the thread for the previous runs I've made:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=438653

Best before today was 13.92 @ 94.23

Today was the last day of the year until '04, so I went out to see what I could do. Here's the slip:

http://home.kc.rr.com/sulatycki/stev...0-forester.jpg

I didn't inline the img becuase it's large. I had a hard time making it legible. The original paper slip is very very faint... their printer must had been just about out of ink.

Here are the numbers:

R/T .777
60' 1.908
330 5.611
1/8 8.761
MPH 78.45
1000 11.511
1/4 13.840
MPH 96.27

As you can tell from my previous times, the 60' was not optimal. I pulled a 1.871 on my best previous run (link above) and today I pulled a 1.863 60'. The 13.7 or better was mine, but I missed the 3/4 shift on the last run of the day (of the year...).

Here are the times for that run:

R/T .733
60' 1.863
330 5.545
1/8 8.725
1000 11.574
1/4 13.954
MPH 94.57

I was really, really pissed about this run. Oh well.

The only thing that's changed on my FXT since my last post has been mileage. Basically stock, except for the intake-silencer removal mod. Mileage is around 6000 miles. Read my previous post for more details.

The FXT never fails to impress...

- Steve

SWEET JEBUS!!

hey Steve, are you running the stock rubber or auto-x tires? also, is this with the coilovers? (not that it would matter too much in the 1320 - but JFWIW)

I want one more and more man... damn single income family (for a few years anyhow)

Maybe you should have. I'm sure you can pick one up for cheap.

I know... I will be getting an 06 Cobra (unless they mess it up bad)

I like my Subaru, but I don't see it making any big power, I want to get it to a nice power level and then not worry.

The cobra can be for big power.

HndaTch627 I wont even respond to such a dumb statment.

How many WRX owners does this tick off . Why don't they use the 2.5 turbo @ 210 hp in the WRX. If they are getting fast with less HP and more weight the math doesn't add up. I think they unrate the power of those things. Man that is strong for a x-ver vehicle. I can think a lot mustangs you can make cry with that car.(and making mustang owners cry is what life is about right? )

Have you ever driven a 2.0 WRX? How would you compare the two motors? (if yes) I guess that question goes to anyone who can answer.

it's funny that you won't respond but you acknowledge what i said in your post.

as far as dumb statements, these cars are making more power per litre, running cleaner, getting the SAME fuel economoy and lasting well over 100k miles. Where am i incorrect or is my thinking flawed in some way shape or form that i am unaware of??

I'd like you go to turn the key on 1968 Chevy Camaro when it's 30 degrees out and see how long it takes to start, now turn the key on your car. Simple enough

I was amused at your sad attempt to start somthing in this tread. A thread that has nothing to do with old vs new technology

Go tell yourself how much more advanced you motor is, while the low tech V8 enjoy double your power...

if they get it started

come on ... back to the thread topic please, no one wants to hear about displacement ideologies... engineering advancement is about more than Powa. And the '06 Cobra you want is far from "low-tech", right?

So - zzyzx, What suspension/tires were you running for these runs?

Ok,
I own a 03 WRX that is slightly modified. My brother has an XT.

He smokes me.... I go to the track about once a month so I know how to drive.

So far he bought STi intercooler, HKS SQL BOV, STi hood scoop/diffuser, STi Y pipe, turbo back Random Tech EXh, and a couple of other goodies.

I'm dying to see how bad he will beat my 14.1 1/4.
I will post his slip soon.

That is a great run. Congrats on the time. It is great to see the potential of these cars in good hard time slips.

i just bought agent007kimballs 01 forester.. he ran a 14.0 at 100 mph.. would it be accurate to think taking the 2.1 60 foot to a 1.8ish would yield a 13.7?

thanks.. Im not sure 100% yet how good a deal it is as it seems to have some sort of rod knock or piston slap or something... It is a knocking noise at idle, gets quieter with higher RPMs. In 5th gear if I punch it It is audible in teh 2k range, but that was just me testing for the sound or not.. I dont plan on boosting at 2k rpm in 5th too much. I am currently searching the board to figure out exsactly what gear ratios the RA gears are, and what this noise might be. It irked me to not know about the noise or the lack of a spare tire ahead of time, but so far it seels okay so Im counting this as a successfull "buying car sight unseen" adventure so far!

drove the Forester, It's way faster than my wrx wagon. Pulls hard all the way up. I need an engine swap, expert the new RS 2.5 will wax me at the start as well.
