The heated debates over the new WRX have me wondering how many members have been long time Subaru owners/fans. If so, what types of Subbies and how many?

My first car was a '88 Subaru Justy GL. Not much on looks, but it helped me expand my lawn mowing business. Heck, without all that money I made, would I have an Impreza today?
Probably...I'd just be in debt. ![]() |

Been a fan of them since seeing a WRX "destroy" a motor bike from the lights in Sydney in 96

My first new car was a '90 loyale wagon. Great car for camping and hauling the mountain bikes around!
My second new car was the RS. Lots of other used cars over the years though... Sean |

Lets see....
Me: 84 BRAT, 90 RX Turbo, 94 Impreza L, 2000 RS Bro: 86 Loyale Sedan, 92 Legacy Wagon, 95 Legacy Wagon Sister: 82(?) Loyale Sedan Dad: 88 Loyale Wagon, 89 Loyale Wagon, 92 Legacy Wagon, 95 Legacy Wagon, and MAYBE an RS Sean Mom: 86 XT Turbo (4 cyl), 99 Legacy Outback SUS (before it was called an Outback Sedan) Yes, Dad's been through ALOT of cars.. but he does do about 1200 miles a week. I've had a few myself: the BRAT was my first car, and I honestly beat it to death (it did run 10,000 miles with no oil though...) and the RX was totalled when some guy in a Volvo Wagon pulled out in front of me (totalled the Volvo, so it was worth it!), and the L I only had eight months before I traded it in for the 2000. The only person who isn't a believer now is my sister... she's been pulled to the dark side...... GM cars- |

Yep, I currently own a 98 Rally Blue RS and a 92 Loyale wagon in metallic grey. It's a great car, but it does tend to leak oil. Any of you Loyale/GL owners have any suggestions for the 1.8l oil leak issue?
I love the space in the Loyale. Plus, it's old so I just throw my mountain bike in the back after a muddy ride and vacuum it out when I have time. Like, never! It's the RS that gets the car washes!jeff |

95 Legacy LS Wagon
00 2.5RS 01 Legacy L Wagon My wife rolled the '95 and walked away with only a few miner cuts and bruises. We were amazed. She was cut off doing about 70 in the northbound lane of the interstate. She went into the median which was unfortunitely a ravine and rolled into the south bound lane. Rescue couldn't believe she wasn't hurt. Therefore she wanted another and I couldn't agree more. |

I've got the '99 OBS, and my parents have a '97 Legacy Outback.
What would be really interesting, IMHO, would be to see all you previous Subaru owners' opinions on the new WRX. I have a theory, but I'll keep it to myself until after I see a few replies. So everybody below me, mention whether you like the new Impreza or not also ![]() Edit: Oops, I forgot to mention: I like the new design from the pics I've seen. ![]() [This message has been edited by Impresario (edited September 18, 2000).] |

I am a diehard Subie/AWD fan! So far I've had the following Subarus:
'86 GL wagon (w/4WD) '90 Legacy wagon (AWD) '90 Legacy wagon (a second one) '99 Impreza 2.5 RS ...and I'm sure I'll have many more! Frankly, I'd buy the new Impreza turbo no matter what it looked like, even if it looked like a cheap POS. Subaru counts on brand loyalty, like Saab does. |

My parents had a '85 (?) GL Sedan.
I took a break from Scooby's until I discovered rallying in '94. Then I bought a used Saab 900 Turbo wich was fun, but didn't have the AWD drive I craved. In '96 I bought an Impreza L Sedan. My family and close friends have a nice sized stable: Step Mom: 2000 RS Me: '96 Imreza L (will be adding one of those sweet looking WRX's in the spring and keeping the '96) Friend Tim: '81 4WD Wagon (recently sold) '90 Legacy Wagon Friend Pat: '94 Impreza |

I had a 97 Outback Sport. The lady that had it before me crashed it and it was never fixed properly. After taking it to the dealer ten times in about 4 months to fix it, they bought it back and thats when I got my 00 2.5 RS for only $50 over dealer invoice!!!

My first car was a 87 GL wagon. Great car
but no power. I learned to drive 5 speed in my moms 88 GL wagon. She sold that and bought a 93 L wagon. I have liked subarus for 8 years now! |

My family has driven Subes for 20 years. And we've only had a few:
'80 GL Wagon 2WD -- totaled '83 GL Wagon 2WD -- sold engine at 220k + miles, car rusted out in '97 '93 Legacy L 2WD -- a measley 200k and only clutch & cv joints have been replaced. (sister's car) '81 GL Wagon 4WD-- sold in '98 for Impreza '95 Impreza L AWD-- current car. Parted with '81 which broke my heart. I've now driven the Impreza more than 50k miles in less than two years. Excellent car. Its been from Key West to Canada 3 times in 14 months! I treated it to a nice stereo and Legacy 15" rims and Bridgestone re910s. I'll drive this one into the ground. I'll never ever drive anything else. Each car--except my Impreza--has been in a horrible accident and the occupants have walked away without scratches. My family will always give Subaru business. '00 Impreza RS - Picked it up TODAY at the dealership. Man...what a car!!!! ![]() That's 3 Subie's and counting...I'm hooked. Cheers, MB (a.k.a. 85 Turbo XT Coupe (fwd)
90 Legacy LS Sedan (fwd) 93 SVX 96 Legacy Outback (wife's) 98 Legacy GT Sedan We still own the 3 Legacy's. Kinda miss the SVX, but the tinkering/aftermarket prospects of the GT lets me enjoy it more. (Plus 5 speed!). I like the new Impreza okay, but generally the car is a little too small for my family situation anyway, so I won't be getting one anytime soon. Rich |
