Default Suggestion of a resturant for iclub Xmas dinner?

iclub Xmas dinner will probably be a Japanese All-You-Can Eat resturant, however, most of the places I know of are in Richmond. So I was wondering if anyone has a resturant to suggest which is located outside Richmond?

Just a few days ago I heard there's this new one opened up in New West called Top Gun (Sushi?). They have all-you-can-eat and you order the sushi and rolls, but u go up to some kind of a salad bar to get sunomono and stuff. Same owner as Richmond Sushi but the atmosphere is a lot better, its in the Westminster Quay area, overlooks the water -- my friend, the satisifed customer.

I've heard of it as well. It opened up sometime in the summer. I've never gone there before, but i have gone to the top gun in richmond, which is totally different. It's a dim sum place.

I've always liked Kamei Sushi by Metrotown (above Earls). They have the rooms too, so you can get a private section for the party. All you can eat is around $20 depending on when you go...I think its $16 before 6:00 or something.

Hi Mirage - fellow Tokyo Ichiban lamentee...

Hi Sandy -- at the risk of repeating myself from a previous post -- I've been to Top Gun Sushi in New West 3-4 times since it opened in the summer and I'd recommend it. It is indeed owned by the same owners as Richmond Sushi but MUCH better atmosphere and service.

BTW - some trivia - you'll know they are the same owner because the "Sushi" part of the TOP GUN "Sushi" restuarant sign is the EXACT same font as the "Sushi" used in Richmond "Sushi". You'll see what I mean if you go there.

1. It's got a really nice view of the fraser river? (not that it matters much to a bunch of guys)

2. Plenty of dedicated, easy-access parking courtesy of New West Quayside market (on the east-side HOTEL parking lot -- which has better lighting and less foot traffic than the west-side parking lot) As long as you finish all-u-can-eat within 2-hours, the parking is free.

3. All-u-can-eat for only 15.95 (lower than most places). And YES, this does include salmon and tuna sashimi with no limit, as well as the popular stuff like oyster motoyaki, sunomonos, BC, Dynamite, and of course Cali rolls etc.

The only thing it doesn't have is prawn tempura (you can pay 20.95 instead to get this or just order a bunch of dynamite rolls )

4. There is a self-serve salad bar for salad, pickled radishes (for those who like that - I do) and all the sunomonos/miso soups that you want. They also sometimes have egg-tarts (dan-tat) at the salad bar.

5. It's in New West so kind of a middle-of-the-way spot for Richmond/Bby/Surrey folk. Far no matter what for N. Shore folk though.

6. No cops to hassle us about loud mufflers since we're out of Richmond.

7. You can go gamble at the riverboat casino afterwards if you're into that

Sandy, here's Top Gun Sushi's contact information:

TOP GUN Sushi "at the Quay"
UNIT 230-810 Quayside Dr. New Westminster, BC V3M 6B9
(Westminster Quay Public Market)
TEL: (604) 526-3833
FAX: (604) 517-0293

Anyways -- that's just my suggestion.
Let me know if you guys have any questions -- or if anyone else has been please chime in

-- Dendrobium

You DO NOT want to go to the SUI SHA YA by the pinetree cinema. Their service sucks, and their rice is 3 times the size of the fish and the quality of the fish is mediocre...

Honbo Restaurant. Good service, great atmosphere, awesome food. Also located in the central location of Renfrew and Grandview highway, so that members from all parts of the GVRD can make it safe and sound.

Actually there's a SUI SHA YA in Abbotsford which is 100 times better than the one in Metro or Coquitlam. The only problem is that I don't know if they have all-you-can-eat in the weekend.

It's located on Granville and 41st.
Really great food there, tried several times.
But I think there isn't any big room for a club meeting like this, and parking is a big problem too.
Tel: 604-263-2326

Hope this help

Lantec -- General Mess Hall would have been good... I know what you mean by REALLY hot in there - and those tables - makes the back seat of any 2dr hatchback seem huge

BUT I tried recently - they only have order-off the menu korean hot pot / BBQ / noodles and other cooked food.

They no longer have sushi/sashimi/korena bbq all-u-can-eat at all.. (strange... ever since Tokyo Ichiban shutdown...)
