Impreza GC8 best header for 2.5RS?? Bent stock one!!

i got a 2.5rs, and my stock header just got bent to *****. Now i cant even drive it anymore because the exhaust outlet on the drivers side cant get out. It's all cloged up. But instead of spending about $250 on a stock-new header, i plan on just buying a borla or some type of header to give me that V8 sound!!(HAHA thats what eeryone says about the borla header for the 2.5rs )
anyways, if there is any other header that will give me the same type of power and sound... let me know

Thanks,
J

if you want the most gains I would suggest a equal length header system You can get a full MRT header back exhaust for pretty cheap.

authorised MRT vendors, they can most likely get you one.
http://www.mrtrally.com.au/performan...rs_USA_MRT.htm
It joins further back than the oem one, it included mid pipe & high flow cat.

Before you run and choose an equal length header system based on someones suggestion, do your research on them first.

(differences between equal length and non-equal length)

Borla makes a great sound, it will be more uneven, sounds more like a Harley or a Ducati (rumbly like a V8 at idle), as opposed to a Ninja sportbike (slightly buzzy-sounding). They give a slight gain in power in the low-mid range, but nothing on top end.
RevLabs also makes headers that are supposedly Borlas with better build quality. Should sound the same but look nicer and last longer.

Equal length will make the car sound smoother, more like a Honda or a Mazda rotary-powered. This sound is usually less pleasing to the ear than the unevenness of the Borla. Don't get me wrong, it won't sound just like a Honda, it's still a boxer engine, w/ the flat-four design, but it will sound smoother, more like maybe a porsche boxster (but not quite as well-tuned sounding) than a VW bug.

Equal length will net more power , especially on top-end, especially if the rest of your car is tuned (cams, heads, etc..)

A few equal-length header manufacturers to check out are:
brullen (might not be completely equal length), TWE, Cobb (if you can get on their order list, they're also pricey), and MRT. Of the above-mentioned, only TWE will connect to your stock catalytic converter, the others replace it and connect directly to most cat-back mufflers. MRT is a full header-back system I believe.

Hope that helps,
-scott-

hearing the sound clips of equal length headers no honda or rotary ever sounded like that. I think the equal length header gives the subaru that trademark boxer engine sound under acceleration.

Equal length headers will definitely produce much better top end gains. From a flow standpoint equal length is so much better becuase each primary is the same length and there will not be interefence and then turbulence at the collector area. Just like any other 4 these can be 4-1 or 4-2-1, 4-1 will give more top end, 4-2-1 will give more low and mid range gains.

Unequal length are certainly not the best from a technical standpoint although they do create gains. My Borlas have given me alot more low and Mid-range torque making the car much more to drive around town. It is very easy to just punch the car into holes in traffic with very little accelerator input now. I feel that the topend has increased but not a whole lot. Borlas are cheap and have good bang for the buck. Good thing is that they bolt to stock locations, so you can use all the other midpipe and catbacks offered and they will work with turbo kits, if one goes that route.
