This is the final sign. Civalization as we know it has finally declined past the point of no return. Check this out: http://formen.ign.com/news/25746.html

I agree a Porsche SUV is just WRONG! What's next, a Lotus cargo van?! Maybe a Lamborghini stake truck!

Lamborghini started out making tractors. That's where the weird gated shifters come from. Lamborghini himself liked them.
A Porsche SUV is just Porsche tapping into the SUV poseur/badge whore market. Its for people who want to say"I drive a truck" and for those who want to say"I drive a Porsche" the ultimate image car. It will have no balls acceleration and crappy handling due to its overall nature. It will be a Porsche only by name. The Cadillac roadster looks good although! |

Hey, look at it this way. If they did not make SUVs and Boxsters, then they might not make enough money for newer and better 911s and supercars.
Plus my cousin just ordered the V8TT one with 450hp , but im trying to get him to order the new Carrera GT instead. |

It will be the fatest SUV with 450hp. It should be able to keep up with the C2s on the drag strip, but dont compare handling

Estimated times are 0-60 in just below 6.5 seconds. [This message has been edited by MikeYOX (edited October 03, 2000).] |

Does anybody remember the jeeplike vehicle that Lamborghini did in the late 80's or early 90's. I seem to recall that it had around 500 hp and was smoking all its competition in the baja races. It was one ugly S.O.B. though. It looked kind of like a cross between a hummer, a vehicross, and a 68 hemicuda.

The Lambo SUV is called (I believe) the LM002 and were VERY expensive for a while. If you have seen the movie "Toys" (which is very odd mind you!) there is a black LM002 in it...and sounds BITCHING.
By the way...for a while Chrysler owned Lambo, and put a Lambo motor into one of their Grand Cherokees...I forget how fast it was... And on ANOTHER note...check out the stats on the BMW X5 4.4i Sure it is an SUV but it is wicked fast and a great handler. Does any of this mean I will buy an SUV? Nope! ![]() D. Neil Crawford added: here is the link to the LM info... http://formen.ign.com/news/9829.html Looks like fun to me! And talk about aggressive styling....mmmm....italian.... I don't think that a high powered cargo van would be so bad: http://www.williamsdb.com/WGTE/INFO/espace.htm

Thanks for the Link DC. Just think of how many of those they would sell in Hollywood now. It looks like a Hummer. Peforms in the rough kind of like a Hummer. At half throttle it would still out run a Hummer.

0-60 in under 6 seconds? Not bad for a poseur ride.

Lambo doing a sport ute isn't blasphemy. That thing was designed for the italian military. Its the civilian poseur models that are offense. Porsche is just plain selling out. At least Lambo had a good reason to make one.

I have to agree with dcrawford. The BMW X5 is one hell of an SAV. It accelerates very nicely (Faster than my Scoob) and handles almost as well. It has a very low CoG and a great sport suspension. I was amazed at how well it performed. If I were in the market for a vehicle like that, I'd get the Bimmer. Of course, if the Porsche Cayenne handles better.... But I'm not in that market, so I don't need to worry about it!! Besides, the next car I buy will most certainly not be an SUV; I'm thinking Boxter or 3.0L Z3 coupe.

You cant really run a profitable company running one very expensive car. The SUV should sell to the SUV crowd, give Porsche money, keep the 911 line alive. Do you only want boxsters, or boxsters, SUVs, and 911s.
