You dont need the heatshield that bolts to the two small holes. Youll need some new studs and they will have to tap new threads into that one messed up hole.

same thing he said. take the pipe to pep boys, get some new studs or long bolts. don't worry about the stupid heat shield. make sure that there are NO pieces of cat still clinging to the walls of that pipe.

eh, $50 is okay for a WRX pipe (in good shape), but most people try to get $150 for an STi

So I hope you didn't pay the STi price. If so, lesson learned and try not to worry too much about it

Just make sure there is no cat left. Probably not, if it came with a bolt already in teh EGT bung

you know I just looked at the pic again. the bung looks different than the one on my stock pipe. Do you think the previous owner (tard) tapped the up pipe for aftermarket egt?

Dark angel, check inside to see if the pipe gets wider inside around that area where the bung is.

dont tap it and put a larger bolt in. just drill it out. then find a bolt that is the same size as the factory stud and put it through the bottom. if you tap it and use a larger bolt then it may not fit through the turbo hole mount or the factory mount on the engine.

It could be a JDM uppipe that some idiot welded an aftermarket bung to, good point.

even if it is a gutted stocker, at least he knows that the fitment will be good. a sure way to tell is to look inside and see if there are grooves where the cat would be(right above that bung). The grooves help keep the cat in place. I gutted a stocker before and had a bitch of a time getting all of the cat out of those tiny suckers.

the hole that the big bolt is sticking out of is called a bung....it should not be there at all if this was an STi pipe.

oh damn.

Just looked at the pic again. What appers to be a bolt in an egt bung is actually the bent ass heat shield attachment.

LOOK CLOSELY

The bung would actually be on the opposite side of where it appears to be in that pic. (on stock WRX uppy)

No worries Just get the stripped out stud fixed and you will be good to go.
