Default STi brembo gold touch up paint...

Hey all, yes i've already done a search but i'm looking for a particular post by a fellow STi owner that said he had found the perfect match for the brembo calipers gold paint. Was test fitting a wheel and got a little scuff mark on one of the calipers. If nothing pops up here i'll just give brembo a call. If i remember correctly the paint that he found was available off the shelf and immediately available. Any help would be appreciated.

Tom

Default Brembo

When I called Brembo, they said that they don't have any touch up paint, that it goes straight to Subaru from Italy. Went to the dealer, and they can't get it either. So, my parts man called his SOA parts guy, no paint available. We also called Nissan, Mitsubishi, and a local Ducati dealer. None knew how to get any.

If you find it, let me know where it is!

If you are going to race everyother weekend, get those pads but get another set of calipers. Change them back and forth as to keep a nice looking set Remember that those pads are intended for track use. Get the Bobcats or street use.

Also, the driver of that car enjoys late braking techiques so they suffer ALOT more. He busted a set of DBA rotors, a set of AEM big rotors, and so far only the paint on the Brembos.

My driver's side brembo was scratched and nicked (both small) today when I got my winter wheel swap done. Sigh... can't anything go smoothly, ever? Just once, that's all I'm asking!

Any news on this? I guess Monday I'll call Subaru but it looks like that isn't going to help much based on earlier posts.

I also did a search on this because my paint is peeling near the bleeder valves.

I had no luck in finding the paint and was also told by Brembo that they can't get the paint.

Let me know if you find a source.

You may want to check: imprezawrxsti.com. I think a guy there said he had a rock stuck between the caliper and wheel spoke and was looking for paint?

Thanks,

Brian

Will a professional shop match the brembo gold ?

Last time I wanted my rims to be painted, they gave me a pile of color chart with paint code to choose from. For black color alone has over 2 pages or over 40 different kinda black.

Sorry I don't have an STi... but I'm assume those professional painters know what they are doing.

They can try, but it's going to cost an arm and a leg. I took the calipers to a paint shop, and couldn't even come close. It was going to cost like 100 or more. Partly, because it's going to have to be a two part paint. An epoxy and the pigment. But if you look at them in the sun, they're a very strange color, and the metal flake is huge!

I called them and got a hold of someone. The previous poster was right, they won't source the paint. Said it's all in Italy, and they can't and won't get it.

They said to go to a body/paint shop and have them match it. Not very happy with this solution.

Arghhh!

And would paint shot at a body shop handle caliper temps.... probably not.

I'd love to hear if anyone has found a solution to this problem.

Call Rim and Wheelworks in Newton, MA.

Had my winter tires mounted there, they sourced the Brembo caliper paint from Brembo as an STi guy was looking to have his rims painted the same color as the brakes and then backed out. The paint was like $400, not sure how much that purchased... not cheap.

Called them (617-964-0226) and David (main guy there) said that they used an Acura gold to paint some wheels for a Volvo and that they do not and never have had sourced the paint from Brembo. Sorry. I need it too.

Default paint remedy

hello,

Just trying to help out here (no promises though):

If you are having problems with the paint on your gold STi brembos:

Please send me a PM.

Or (preferred) email pictures of the scuffs/scratches/chips (along with a DETAILED description of how they happened)

FatChanceTi at yahoo.com

thanks,

FCTi
