Cool Post locked! - badge of honor or shame?

I've been a board member for 8 months, and yesterday I had a post locked for the first time. Is this a rite of passage? Should I be proud or ashamed? I must say, while I can see that maybe it was a tad insensitive, I was suprised at the political correctness. If this were some Iraqi soldier run over by his own tank would it have been less tasteless?

Please don't think I'm ticked at anyone, as I said, I was just surprised.

Mike--I was not sure whether or not the thread deserved to be locked.

Your story was humorous--I have to admit. But occasionally, we laugh at others' expense not realizing that the same thing (or similar) could easily happen to any of us.

At the same time... it's good to tell stories like that because NOW, if my car started rolling toward me, I would hope that I would remember this and would NOT step behind it!

So, with all of this in mind, all I have to say about the previous thread is....

BYGONES

Just my 2 cents,
Jeff

Cool

Is not all humor at someone's expense?

well, he's got a point. But it is a little harsh when we laugh at death.

Then again, there are the Darwin Awards.

hehe, almost all humor is at someone's expense. Exception: fictional stories.

But anyway, I said that sometimes we laugh at someone not realizing the same thing could easily happen to one of us.

When I read the darwin awards, I usually do get a good laugh. But I feel guilty every time I do.

Cool

I think even fictional humor is at someone's expense - men, women, blonds, redheads, overweight people, underweight people, ethnic groups, etc. A funny story has to hit a little close to home for someone to really be funny.

Mike,

The one thing that keeps coming to mind is The Simpons. That show makes me laugh my butt off.

I guess the laughter is at the expense of: Stupid people (Homer), Nerds (Lisa), Devil Children (Bart), Old folks (Abe), etc...

So, I guess you could be right on that.
