Post First load of '01 models came in today

Well, we got our first load(or loads as it were) of 2001 Outbacks & Legacies today. 32 of them in total (3 truck loads.) Some things that I noticed right off the bat:

We now have an Outback Limited in Wintergreen.

The Outbacks & Outback sedans in White now offer beige interior instead of the dark grey only.

01's are identical to 00's, except for one thing. Price! The 01 Limiteds got a $1000 price hike. (If they had changed anything on them I would understand a small increase, but SHEESH!)

01 regular Outbacks only got about a $100 price bump, so hopefully RS's will get that same small amount when they get the increase.

Did you get one of the new H-6 Outbacks?

BTW, My GF's 2000 Outback Limited Wagon has Beige interior. The gray was only available in the sedan

William
PS I don't want to be an a..hole, i just thought i should point out that the beige was available in some Outback models

It is still a couple of months before the H6's are supposed to start showing up at the dealers.

Why is it that everywhere else in the world Subaru's are actually getting cheaper and better while here we get the short end of both sticks. The forester got a facelift and a 1000 pound price cut across the pond so What gives?

William, yes the Outback Ltd's have come with beige leather but the regular Outback in white only had the dark grey until now. The beige cloth really looks good in them, No H-6's yet, we should have a few in in early August-can't wait to drive one to see how much of a difference there really is!

Angry

How can they justify such a large increase with no change to the car? Aren't their sales better than ever? It's this kind of crap that's going to make me buy an Audi or a Passat 4motion. I guess It's so they can justify an additional increase when the H6 comes out. My dealer told me the H6 outback could cost $35k. At the time I thought he was full of it but if the Ltd's are now ~$30k+ then the H6 Ltd VDC could be $35k. This doesn't bode well for the new Turbo either. I always figured it would be under $30k since they wouldn't make it their most expensive car but now they can charge $30k+ and there's still room to move "up". I'm starting to really hate SOA. Maybe this is GM's influence; they don't want the OB Ltd to be a better deal than a Blazer.

Question

Deadbolt, I talked to a dealer here in CT and they said that each dealer will be getting 1 STX in August, you know anything about this?

Cool news Deadbolt. I hear the H6 won't be at the dealers til sept. But as soon as my dealer gets one I'll be whipping it around

And who was I arguing that the H6 will be $30+K???? If the OB Limited went up $1000 that will surely push the H6 over the top. It's ashame that they are going to price themselves out of the market.

ESPO99RS,
They told you that? Unless they are getting something that no-one else is, I think they may be fibbing to you. Although Fuji has decided to produce the truck, it won't be available until sometime in the year 2002 as a 2003 model.

ColinL,
What your dealer told you sounds like what I have been hearing from SOA for a few weeks now. More than likely that will be a really close estimate on the price.
