Post Subaru Pace Car at Assen

I was watching the highlights of the 500 Grand Prix at Assen. Watching the start I noticed the distinct front end of a Subaru at the back of the pack! Yep, after watching the second start I was sure. The pace car for the Assen Grand Prix was a Subaru Impeza! Pretty darned cool!

Yup, I noticed that too. It figures, in the US we have Monte Carlo's leading a bunch of overweight sloppy NAS(TY)CAR cars around a great road course and in Holland the have a WRX trying to keep up with GP bikes on a great road course. Its just not fair that the rest of the world see's a WRX and thinks nothing of it, and we see the front end of one behind a bunch of bikes and pick it out right away. I even found myself watching the back end of the pack on the warm-up lap to see the thing going around some corners. BTW, did you notice how he launced on the green with the rest of the bikes?

It was pretty cool to see the beast behind all the bikes. I was hoping to see him come out when it started to rain. I would have been interesting to see a WRX pace car in front of a bunch of GP bikes in the wet.

Hmmmm... might have to start watching those TOCA grids a bit more closely.

Oh, speaking of all wheel drive starts, did you see the race from Lime Rock? The Audi leapt into the lead off the line... simply awesome to watch.

Is this on Speedvision. My F****** cable company will not get Speedvision. I keep calling and calling and calling them to ge Speedvision. My cable company is Comcast, formerly Jones Intercable.

I have a TV card and if I could watch it I would take some snap shots and maybe video of the races. Like the WRC.

giulio,

On the warm up lap they run in the back of the grid. They make sure the track is clear of all riders, etc., before the start of the race.

That Audi at Limerock got pinched at the start but squeezed thru. To bad there were so many yellows. I wanted to see the overweight viper lose it's tires and let it become a closer race. My friend was watching the Dutch TT with me and he's always saying "you never see your car(RS) on TV." I started hittin' him on the arm saying "see there's a Subaru on TV." He drives a supercharged M3 so he was lovin the Limerock race.
