Exclamation New mazda 626...wow!!!

CAR Magazine called it the "imprezionist". To me, it looked more like an EVO...a meaner looking EVO. I just hope they bring it here too! Any body seen this yet? It's in the new CAR magazine.

They meant the "old" Impreza. The new WRX isn't quite as aggressive looking as the current Evo and upcoming Mazda 626.

Why, Subaru? WHY????

Mazda's Euro models don't look like the US models (Miata excepted). 626 and 323 look quite tasty in Euro sheetmetal; they look pretty humble on US dealer lots.

That's the Mazda 626MPS. It has a V6 in it and what? twin turbos pumping out 280hp? Go read all about it in CAR.

Snoopy: The new WRX does not need to look aggresive as along as it eats aggresive cars up in real life.

From what i heard, the new WRX brings less HP...240's. Unlike before...~270-280HP. The new WRX won't eat up neither this new 626 and the mitsu-EVO.

OK there's been some confusion.... Apparently Subaru's marketing execs has been drinking too much sake and they've decided to confuse us all.
From onwards all turbo Imprezas will be known as WRX. The base engine will provide 247hp. It's up to STi to tune them to reach 280hp. Or like UK and Europe we get detuned ones. Some of you are prolly new to the Subaru Impreza history. It's always been like this. Their first WRXs has alot less hp compares to the later versions. It's how it is. I dunno. Just like how Subaru only makes frameless windows.
The STi version for the new WRX is being created as we type. It will be 280hp at the minimum.

Yah that 626 MPS has a 2.5L V6 twin turbos 6 pot front brakes 4 pot rears AWD ABS and a bunch of other cool things. It will be like the WRX though. Unless enough people ask for it the US will never get it. That is why its making its rounds of the European Car Shows this year. Last year Mazda did something almost identical with a Protege cncept but according to Mazda decided to use the larger 626 since it was due for a redesign in 2002 or 2003 and the Protege had just gotten a redesign. I had posted the article that was in Top Gear a while back.

Unhappy

We will never see cars like the Supra, RX7, and the 300ZX in the US again. Until, the majority of consumers want to spend their money on twin turbo asian cars. Until then enjoy the new Impreza.

It's such a beautiful car. And who knows what its true potential is? 2.5liters + twin turbo+ 6 cylinders = some rediculous amount of hp. I bet 350 hp will be easy to get, probably much more,Just like the skyline. Please let mazda bring it to the US. Maybe the car gods will shine on us and give someone in the Ford Motor Co. a revolutionary idea to bring the US a four door twin turbo Mustang Killer. Go Mazda.

I'll Scan a photo of the interior on thursday. If anyone can do it sooner, go for it. It looks a H3LL of a lot better then the EVO or Scooby does-classy and refined yet a little rugged and Meant for business!!!
That would Definatley turn heads here.

I doubt Ford will let them release a Mustang killer in the US.

Anyways, Ive heard that this will not make production anywhere and that there will be a 323MPS that will and will be for sale in the US next year as a MY2003. But with only 240hp. (and im pretty sure AWD)

I wrote Mazda and the reply I got back was that the 323 project was killed off and this was the new project. They are serious enough about gathering peoples thoughts that they are sending it to all the European autoshows. Mazda said the 323 isn't to be designed again until 2005. OH well if it did make it to the US it would likely be about $35K.

Yeah right. Anyone want to put odds on this one? No? Thought so.

Your best bet for fast -trouble free- Mazda is to slap a Jackson Racing supercharger on a new Miata. Then go play "wag the tail".
