Are those MOMO knobs universal fit, or do they actually thread onto the stock threads? I had thought of getting a MOMO for my Mustang a couple years ago, until I found out they were universal fit (in other words, they're hold on by set screws or some other method, they don't actually thread onto the stick). I wasn't too impressed by that, so I decided to skip it.

Try Sola Gearshift - haven't talked to them in a couple years, but they used to be 1800-882-7652. They make CNC milled aluminum knobs in a couple simple shapes. The knobs have a large threaded hole in them (probably about 0.5" diameter) and then a smaller insert threads into that. The insert has the proper stock threads on it, so the knob threads directly onto your stick. I have two of their knobs for my Mustang, absolutely gorgeous. Deep, deep finish on them, very smooth. I need to get a new insert so I can put one in the Subie.

Question

I like my stock leather shifter for now, but it spun clockwise this weekend to point to 1:30 or 2:00 o'clock when tight now.

Any solution to fix that?

Larry,

since your knob twisted too far clockwise (1:00 you said) (I'm guessing right now it is just tight enough so that it doesnt easily spin), grab it real good with your hand and tighten another 270+ degrees or so. I've found that you can really crank that sucker down if you want too.

Ryan

Really, give it another 3/4 turn. It will go, and be very secure (and undamaged)

Question

Imprezer,
What carbon fiber dash kit do you have? Is that the Subaru factory stuff? I looked at your listed mods in the members section and didn't see it listed.
