imprezaboi -- haha don't be jealous - I just tell everyone it's mostly stickers .
At least you know I'll be easy to follow in a convoy through the streets!

BTW - if you find gates E4 and/or E5 :
-- locked (they're the right-angle white/yellow tubular frame gates you find at parks)
-- or difficult to find (they are really easy to miss on the street)

DON'T WORRY -- just enter via the MAIN BCIT entrance E7 on Willlingdon at the traffic lights, hang an immediate right and then plod your way through what seems like an endless series of speed bumps and parkades until you reach Student Parking Lot N. It's all good.

I'll edit the BCIT map and post it here tonight to show what I mean.

I'll hit up the convoy but if ANYONE drives like an idiot they are getting an ass kicking by ME, and HAPPYDAYS. And if anyone rear-ends anyone they are getting an ass-kicking. If you can't handle following other cars in a convoy I would suggest not doing it.

Sorry to rant but there have been some really dumb convoys and I don't want that to happen.

ENJOY!

Tora's right - the main point of the convoy is so we can all get to Top Gun Sushi in a timely manner without getting lost -- NOT to "become sushi" in the process or get pulled over etc. (right Tora? )

Just be nice and pretend it's like a "wedding convoy" - 'cept we don't get to honk our horns

BTW for the benefit of those who will find it inconvenient to come to the "convoy" -- I'll post up some simple directions to get to Top Gun Sushi (basically you can follow CANADA WAY - 8th St all the way to New-West)

cheers!

While you're at it, bring FRS radios so you guys can communicate while driving. Easier than cell phones, and they're cheap. You just need to be all on the same channel

No offence "pho &%$#@ nga" but I woul prefer people not to be on phones or radios whilst driving...let's just concentrate on the road. Wasn't there a reaqr ender during a convoy over the summer?

At the risk of sounding too serious -- I'd have to agree with tora -- while FRS radios are great in the backcountry and on ski hillls, they definitely are more difficult to coordinate while driving.
From personal experience -- it's all too easy to become "blind" to everything else except your FRS radio. At best, they COULD help if each car had a passenger to operate the radio -- which I don't think is going to be the case on Sat. -- but even then they *may* bring more confusion than they're worth.

As I said earlier, I'll post up a super-SIMPLE route to get to the SUSHI restaurant when I get home from work TONIGHT (so everyone can at least have a chance to look at it beforehand, and to avoid a "3 blind mice" scenario)

I propose we take this simple (may not be the fastest) route whereupon I've already planned 2 "stop" points along the way in "biggish" parking lots where we can stop to wait for people who "didn't make the light, were blocked by someone else switching lanes" etc. etc.

Hopefully this should result in a nice, easy and RELAXED convoy down to the sushi place with little need for FRS's, cell phones, etc. and undue STRESS caused by people making last-minute brash decisions because they are worried about being left behind.

This is supposed to be fun right?

Yes, there was an incident in the past year where someone was rear-ended. I don't know if radios were involved or not, but the reason why the person got rear-ended because the person following was following too close.

If used properly, FRS radios are used to relay minimum information. It isn't used to "gossip" while in transit. Just used to relay info like, "oh, the last three cars were stopped by the redlight." kind of info.

Or we could do a cannonball run, or a kamikaze convoy...or whatever it's called.

I believe it's called a "hat race"

Nonetheless, let's not let this thread go totally OT.

Have a safe drive everyone.

Yeah man, that would be me
Got rear-ended at a red light....the guy was not paying attention. It was a mixed meet...different groups.

Be careful guys, wouldn't want to see anyone get into an accident. If you are going to drive like moron, do us all a favor...leave the convoy and go to hell. Or feel the pain of Happy Days hand up your arse

Arrow CONVOY MEET MAP

Happy_Days is right - I think we're blowing things out of proportion just a bit... So... to bring this thread back OT:
who's in so far?

1. imprezaboi
2. Lantec
3. Dendrobium
4. tora maybe?
5. 4WF ?
6. ?

that's like only 5 cars .

Anyways, I suggested a route in the top-level VIC forum - I didn't want to cross-post the HUGE PIC. Pls take a look at it.

But, here's another huge pic that clarifies how to get into the BCIT parking lot. The pink signifies getting in. The green signifies how we can get out easily. Feedback is welcome!

See you guys Saturday

The gate numbers reminded me of planning an escape from the infested colony in the movie "aliens"
