Default Elway vs. Burt

Hi, I'm putting down a deposit either with Elway or Burt (for Baja Turbo). Do you guys have any input on either dealers, in terms of the servicing? I use Burt right now for 15k checkups, but the car never failed I don't really know what they are like under stress... Thanks in advance!

Please buy from either Mike Shaw or Flatirons.

Mike Shaw Subaru for service. They are worth the drive. Stay away from Shortline.

Shoulda ran a search before I posted. Thanks guys, and Burt stopped poking holes a while back (after they raped my 98 impreza that way). Flatiron guys (via email) said he didn't have any pricing info yesterday when that is all over the place So I decided to stay away from them...

Mike Shaw :-)

They actually have a mod-shop inside the dealership (flat4engineering). That in itself makes them cool. They also have a very public policy of being leinent in providing warranty service even after a car is modified. Assuming you're into mods...

Hey, I almost bought a Forester XT from Burt the other day. The insurance was going to kill me though!! They wanted to charge me $335/mo!!!!!!! I pay $110/mo on my 98 Impreza now. Bah, rediculous.

Holy crap! 335 for XT? I thought XT is still unrated by insurance - guess no more! I'd better check my insurance - I highly doubt they have quotes yet for Baja Turbo.

I was satisfied with my purchasing experience from Burt. I have no complaints.

Might be true, I've never bothered with their service department.

I bought my car from Flatirons and told them that if they badged the car in any way, I wouldn't be in to pick it up.

The XT was listed as the "Forester WRX XT" on the website... I think it was Geico. I believe it was Progressive that listed it as "Forester XT Turbo"

They're onto us!!!!

I disagree. Request Jayson Black.

Burt is now putting a crappy black undercoating on the cars, so you might want to consider Mike Shaw.

Unhappy

But wouldn't you be in trouble (if you didn't correct X to XT knowingly, that is) when you do get into accident? They may give you NA 2.5 slush box back to you...

Brett, thanks for the offer! I'm in contact with Patrick right now... It's just you guys are so far away from my house (Morrison)...

EDIT - I just called insurance, and $120 comprehensive deductible will raise the premium by 200 dollars for 6 months! OMG. Now if I raise deductible to 500, then it'll be +100 compared to current OBS. I have clean (no ticket, no accident) record, so thinking about raising the duductible for monthly payment purpose...

Bought my car new from Elway South-saved about $900 from 'no haggle pricing'-Burt couldn't match the price on an identical car they had. Mike Shaw should be worth the drive-ESPECIALLY since Bret Carter works there/flat4engineering is based from them. Just my 2 cents

Bret is very good, no doubt about it.

It is hard for me to justify driving to 120th for every oil change.

Go get it from Mike Shaw. Basic service you can go anywhere, but just make the drive if anything goes wrong or you wanna do mods. Also, check out Flat4's forum. They have started a "club" for local customers offering discounts, use of tools at races, free t-shirt and sticker...but of course the big thing is the discount. And both Joe and Bret are super nice guys and of course Bret's reputation as a mechanic is known my many...I knew it for a long time before I met him 2 weeks ago...

And I would never take my car to Elway on Colfax ever again. Those *$#&#$@ smoked in my car. It smelled like cigarettes for a week after my 60k service...

Mike Shaw is great, no other company is active on our forums. That says something.

Though if the choice was between Elway and Burt.. go to Elway. My uncle Jerry is a lead mechanic there, he's been wrenching on Subies for 20+ years. He knows his Subaru's. Mike Shaw, Flatirons, and Elway have the best dealership Suby mechanics in the state.

Thanks, everyone. I got a lock in at 3% over invoice with Burt, and trying Mike Shaw to do the same (MS has already put 650 worth of options - assuming some lame options like fabric treatment which I will no way pay for). Bret, thanks for PM'ing me. I really want to do business where folks care about their cars, not just because of the price. But I need to see everyone's card before I make this big purchase.

One thing I noticed was Elway always tell me they get cars first because they do a lot with SOA. Hum, then why Burt already has one in the lot and not them? They said the same thing when FXT came out - they were expecting to receive when Burt already had a couple

Don't know about Elway out in Golden, but Elway down on Arapahoe Rd. was good. My purchasing experience was very quick and straightforward. They gave me a very good trade in value as well as $1000 off sticker and $200 in Conoco gas coupons when everyone else wasn't budging from sticker on the WRX.

(Edit for grammer error.)

I've bought from Elway south and Burt and they were both very good, Burt more so. Everyone I've ever talked to at Shortline seemed like a cokehead.

Oh, and if you don't like your insurance rate, get married.

I bought from Burt obline and saved a ton of $$, but service at Elway West (Golden) because of Matt in Parts and Skip (tech) in service. Both are awesome and willing to help out with everything.....though I am interested in meeting Bret at Mike Shaw to check out the tuning shop! Not many dealers are cool with mods...even Suby approved mods! I'd say that John Elway West is sweet but Mike Shaw sounds pretty tempting....only that the drive up north is outta my way...my .02....it's snowing and there's empty parking lots to be had....out....
