Post I just love the local riff-raff! (rant)

So I'm out grocery shoping today and we take the RS (which is odd, we usually take the wife's car!), we get to the grocery store and I park in one of the furthest spots out in the lot, only one car anywhere near me. Go in to shop, come out my car is surrounded by a bunch of Sanford & Son looking peices of crap!! I'm already getting pissed as the front half of the lot is nowhere near full so these jacka**es could of parked closer to the store. I get to my car and immeadiately start looking for dings (OK I'm paranoid, so what!) Sure enough the POS 1980's Oldsmobile parked on my passenger side has wacked my door (luckily it just marred the rubber strip, didn't leave a dent!), just as I am about to inflict some retalitory damage on the car I notice there is a young (6-7 year old) girl asleep in the passenger seat (damn...a witness) so I stop myself from destroying the Olds's door and just left.

I just wish people could respect everyone else property, but I guess if they don't respect their own, they will never repect anyone else's!

yeah, and ya know there's nothing like leaving children alone, sleeping in a parked car!

I don't know whether to be more concerned that the window is up, in which case their leaving a child in a possibly hot car, or down, in which case all manner of bad guys might have access to them.

Given the fact that they actually were rude enough to hit your car though, I'm sure neither of the above is something that concerns them (since they obviously suffer from hua syndrome).

Ya know what's a good way to prevent dinks? don;t park all by yourself cus there might always be some oddball who thinks that you are so high and mighty and decided to do your car in. Keep it inconspicous. I used to park far a way. But that didn't help. I got a deep dink. So now I trt to park next to new bimmers or audis or any expensive cars. they themselves are afraid to get dinked.

Or just try not to worry about it because it will happen no matter how careful you are. I guess that is one good thing about buying a used car with a few dings already

6 months old? You're complaing about that? My car was less then 2 months old when I had two dings removed... one was from a badly placed old rear sway bar falling onto my hood (thanks mom), and the second was in a Home Depot parkign lot and someone had leaned on my front fender and dented it in!

I park as far away as humanly possible, plus at work I have a small lot so I check my car for dings when I get out every day. If I'm lucky I get a good spot that is all by itself, if not I park far far away and someone always parks next to me. Fortunately no real door dings for me yet, though.

What I hate is when I park all by myself way outside and I go back to find two POS cars/riceboys/potatoboys next to me and a ding on my car. It has happened two or three times now. I have gotten $20 out of one of the guys but the others I couldn't find.

It makes me furious to see posers who can't even be considerate of what they're imitating. AGH!

Exactly two weeks after I got my car, I parked it far away as usual, went into a diner (not even to eat, just to say whats up to a friend of mine) came out and BAM, big red streak on my new white car and a nice dinger too. Talk about being pissed, I nearly killed everyone in the parking lot. Oh well, I'll find that stupid red car one day...

We usually take my wife's beater minvan out now, instead of my RS. She's tired of the three mile hike in the parking lot and then my "ding inspection" whenever we go out with it.

What kills me is that we once spent $1,200 fixing the left rear quarter panel on the minivan and some jerk takes their keys for a 3 foot ride down the side of the car the next month, before we could even get the pinstripe repainted. The $1,200 repair was after some idiot crossed through an intersection and then backed up into the intersection again after we started a left turn behind him. We never got around to repainting the key scratch in the minivan, and since then have had the sliding door hit causing $1,200 damage there too.

We've decided to let her minivan take all the punishment, and leave my RS in the garage where it's safe. Poor scooby is afraid to come out now...

Hmmm well you could always say thanks by applying a nice even coat of brake fluid to his cars paint. You know just to shine it up for him. I had some idiot hit the back of my car when it was 4months old. Yep still a baby and some A-hole hits it. The screwed up part was I was in the last parking space with a grass covered field on one side and a old abandoned car on the other. Since the old car didn't move in the 9 months I had been there I thought it was a good idea to use it to shield my car. Well guess again. I come out to find some cross eyed lawn boy had hit the damn car while mowing. I stood there a few minutes thinking, "Well damn now that's kind of ironic." So you can't always make your car 100% safe. However since my car was hit on NASA's grounds you tax payers paid for the idiots damage. Well now that I think of it more I paid taxes also. So I guess I did end up paying for it. Man that sucks! I'm going to go have a drink now.

Dude,

I know what you are saying....my current biggest worry is getting a ding in my car. I have owned it for almost 21/2 months and so far no dings.

I do the same thing...I park as far as possible from anyone......one time I had the same thing happen to me......parked my suby out in the open, no car was with a 100ft from me....and when I got back from the store...there it was....a piece of S@#t old wreck parked next to me. Lucky there was no dent......but you can bet I was scared when I ran back to the car.

When I get my first ding.....GOD HELP the dumb soul who causes it. I won't be merciful.....;(

I know a few who have gotten their Suby's vandelized and door racked.....and that just sucks.

When I had my STI IV
I use to park in two bays at my local shop hoping that no one would park close. one day I did it and this ahole in BMW decides to park half on pavement, half in parking bay next to my car so close that i couln't even open the door and had to get in on the passenger side! what a Dumbnut that guy was. If the carpark was full I would understand but it was half empty! Now if i'm parking sorry to say this I won't park next to a car driven by a women as they think that your car is there to stop them from opening there door to much! Instead I park next to a young suited guy as they seem to have more respect for others property.

Here's a solution! Keep a small can of gasoline in your trunk. The next time some loser scumbag parks his beater next to you and dings your car, pour the gas over his s***pile, and light it on fire. I'm sure it'll make a point. He'll be thinking hard about his mistake when he's trying to rub off the scorch marks.

Of course, you'd probably never be able to park in public again without your car being destroyed. Oh well. Maybe you could keep some sugar around to put in his gas tank. He'll be wondering when he grinds to a halt five miles down the road. If it starts.

I've got a small valve-stem remover that I drolled a hole in on my keychain. If some moron decides to ding me they are coming back to a car with 4 flat tires and no valve stems so they can't just take the tires off and refill them.

BTW Overtime, you got $20 for a ding? You DO realize that paintless dent removal costs like $100/ding, right?

Well, 8, I had a bit of a time with the guy. He was a guy I knew-not a guy I liked, but a guy I knew-and the ding was minute. I bickered with him for a while, he claimed that I had no proof he did it, and I settled for all the contents in his wallet-$20. The guy is poor and lives out in the country, so I didn't press the issue. He's since dropped out.

As for paintless dent removal and so on-it turned out that it didn't matter. A few weeks later a girl smashed my driver's side at 65 in the center lane and the door was replaced. Go figure.

where I work there are only 2 cars out back, mine and a co worker. If anyone parks next to us, we can hear them pull up. I don't park the car out in the middle of nowhere, it just draws attention. I park in any spot I can find. The back end of the car doesn't draw too much attention out here. But then again, some of people aren't exactly top breed. I still keep my fingers crossed tho.

I park in the same spot at work every day (I get there early) and typically, the same people park on either side of me, so I guess you could say I'm (Or rather my car) is involved in a couple parking lot relationships. This is great because the other drivers (whom I have never met) respect my car, because they know I wouldn't ding their cars (and more importantly, I know which cars to go after if I do find a ding...)
When I'm not at work, I make sure I get a big space, preferrably next to a curb or island on one side, and park as close to the curb as possible. I don't like parking in the middle of nowhere, because it makes my car conspicuous... Even more so than it already is.
(* *)Of course, I'm willing to pay for a security system that automattically defends the car against dingers and thieves: Some sort of flame thrower such as the anti-carjacking kits in South America that would activate when the door is dinged!

woops here is the rest of the message.
I went to Chicago this past summer in my 2000 RS and had to park in a freakin parking garage. I was petrefied but had no choice. Of course when I came to get my car 2 days later after the Comic book convention I was attending I noticed a nick on one side and a scratch on the other side on the doors with red paint on one. Very small but noticeable. I almost fell to my knees. Those STOOPID STOOPID EEDIOTS. Dumb vacationors walking around in a stupor in their crappy rentals while others like us Impreza owners have pride in what we drive and want to drive our cars everywhere. Well next year I am going to be one of those rental people and watch out....

MY01... 2 weeks old... And someone backed into my bumper and swiped off 8 inches of paint!

But she at least was nice enough to give me insurance info, so the dealer will repaint.

Me too. I have only thankfully suffered a few tiny scratches on my MY01, but everyone thinks I'm wigged b/c I park far away or in those end spots where they can only get me on one side.
That's why the only thing conspicous on my car so far are the Euro plate and the tiny "engineered by CMFRacing" stickers.
