you realize of course that brand spanking new this TV is running about 900-1100$? gogo best buy, and holiday specials.... they had a 47" plasma for 2199 the other day, if I had my checkbook with me I'd have owned one.

I just picked up a 55 inch mitsu the other day. They are fun. On a side note, who still uses checkbooks.

Don't know where you getting that price, Best Buy doesn't have it for 900-1100! Your taking off $300 bucks because of this promotion:

Free $25 - $300 Gift Card by Mail-in Rebate

Buy any Flat-Screen, Plasma, LCD or Projection TV for $299 and up and receive a free Gift Card by mail-in rebate for up to $300 (good on future in-store purchases).

$299 - 499.98 earns a $25 Gift Card
$499.99 - 999.98 earns a $50 Gift Card
$999.99 - 1,999.98 earns a $100 Gift Card
$1,999.99 - 2,999.98 earns a $200 Gift Card
$2,999.99 and up earns a $300 Gift Card

you only get $100 gift card, NOT cash, so you still have to spend the money in the store!

I called Best Buy today, 12-18-03, and they said retail is $1565 add another 6.25% tax on that and there is you total. If you can buy it for $900 please do so because I would love to buy it off you and make some profit!

Should have called the day after thanks giving.

6am to noon everything was an additional 10-20% off plus all rebates still applied, that would make that TV in the neighborhood of 1200$ plus tax. Doesn't matter though, my point was that you shouldn't expect too much in resale. LCD projection TVs have come way down, and plasmas are getting reasonable also.

As for hwo uses check books.. i sure as hell do, particularly for large purchases, and it has to do largely with the amount of money I can spend in a day on my debit card, if i had put 2199 on the debit card I would have had only another 300$ i could spend that day, and I may have wanted a very long strip club lunch okay?

those are very nice.... I almost bought the 60" but was having a hard time justifying almost 4k$ after taxes for a TV...

but definitely one of the nicest TVs on the market right now short of going with plasmas

Yeah, but $2519 is a lot easier to handle, and she can pay it off in under a year, interest free till 11/25/03.

I didnt know that a Strip club lunch was involved that changes everything. I actually had my limit upped on my debit card so as to never have this issue. Just works for me better that way, but everyone is different. After 2 weeks with my TV i love it, just need more HD channels to fuly take advantage of it.

PS: While she pays off the HDTV as my gift, I have to pay off her huge entertainment center that she made me buy to put the TV in
