Default HWY 9 and close call w/ big rig

hey all,
Can anyone tell me weather or not 18+ wheelers are allowed on highway 9 just outside of Saratoga? This morning I came very close to hitting one taking up the entire road at a 15MPH blind curve right next to the Saratoga Springs. It did cause me to lock up all 4 wheels and graze the guard rails on the bridge just there. My por little subaru is now has more scratches to put up with ('90 legacy L FWD sedan). At least I haven't found anything other than the scrapes on the front fender (I think that I can buff them out), the hub cap on the Right Front wheel is scraped to high heaven and the bumper just next to the wheel on the front part of the wheel well is scratched all the way to the black plastic. Not bad for a close call. But could of been mutch better. Well that is enough of my ranting.

Is that an escort, or is the cop trying to pull him over?

I was up at Mt. Hamilton during Thanksgiving weekend, and the tour guide told us that it is illegal for any semi-truck to take that road. But they try to do it to save time in commute, or something stupid like that.

Escort, or at least I assumed as much. After a while the cop signaled the truck to pull over and let us pass by.

That truck was barely able to make some of the turns - occasionally bouncing across what little shoulder space the road had to offer. Even worse was that, after we passed it, we passed by a group of cars coming up the mountain. I didn't have time to really signal them and I was worried they'd meet the truck around one of the blind corners.

That's why some of you guys need to be a little more cautious going up Mt. Hamilton and other roads like it - you never can tell what kind of weirdness you'll see.

Im fairly certain that trucker got a ticket along with an escort back down the hill.

Note: I was riding along with avatar taking those pictures It was scary stuff, watching that thing try to take those hairpins... Well, it didnt really TAKE them it just kind of went over them!!!

I saw one coming over hecker pass one time.....got stuck on a sharp turn and blocked off the whole road.....totally illegal on that section of 152.

I was following one on 129 and saw him keep coming close to the cement barriers so I slowed down and backed off...the blam he cut one too close and bounced off the wall....

A couple nights ago there were 2 semis headed up 9 blocking about 10 cars. We got caught in them about 1/4 of the way up from Saratoga.
