Default whats the better deal?

I'm conflicted with what to do I can buy eather one of these
94 wrx non sti front clip with rear lsd 2600 shipped
94 wrx sti front clip with out rear lsd 2600 shipped

does a rear lsd make any difference? I've heard the rear lsd is nothing speical so should I get the sti front clip? both clips have about the same amount of damage on the out side ones sti with out lsd ones with lsd non sti I have a 94 L its going in to so I should have the 4.11 diff so I souldn't need the lsd correct?

helppp what should I do?

um well with the rear LSD does it include the whole drivetrain as well?...otherwise the rear LSD is kind of useless to you....

Ok are you ready for this. If it is a 94 STi vs a 94 WRX you need to know when as in the month!!
The STi packs a 250ps 31.5kg/tq. Now if this 94WRX is a late model as in after September it packs 260ps if its an early model it packs 240ps with 31kg/tq. Not much difference!!!

I would get a clip that includes the whole rear assembly (diff, trailing arms, cradle, axles, brakes, etc. If its just the diff, I wouldn't get it. If I had to choose, I'd get the STi clip w/o rear end, and source a 5mt (not auto) RS rear. This will greatly escalate the costs, and probably isn't worth it. I'd have to look up the actual gear ratios in my Subaru book, but IIRC, the early STi and regular WRX's had the same trannies, while the RA's got the close ratio gearbox, like what Adam Bloom used in his car.

Either way, you're getting a motor w/8.5 to 1 compression, and with the TD05-16g turbo, which is one bad ass street turbo. And you're smart for going with same years for your conversion. My first swap was a '94 WRX wagon front clip into a '94 Impreza. Now I'm doing a '93 WRX sedan into a '94 Impreza. Be very sure that your clip is not a wagon, my first guy ripped me off, told me I was getting a '95 WRX sedan (258 hp w/ TD05), and it turned out to be a '94 WRX wagon (218 hp, wimpy TD04 ). I tried to get the model code and everything and he "couldn't find it on the clip." First thing I did was lift the hood, and there in plain view was the ID card, GF8 (GRRrrrr!!! ) Too bad he was safely 3000 miles away, I was pissed. I had to source a TD05 separately, which was definitely a bigtime unexpected cost.

all I'm saying about the rear diff is in order to use it you willmostl ikely have to change your entire drivetrain depending onthe diff that it is...so in other words go with the STI

I'm still not clear about whether he's saying the WRX clip includes ONLY the rear diff, or if it includes the whole rear end. I've sourced dozens of clips, and never seen anyone try to sell ONLY the rear diff, but you never know. My fear would be that its any old rear diff and that they're lying and saying its the one that was with the clip. Or that the car was in a rear collision that ruined the axles, in which case the diff might be damaged, too (otherwise, why would they take the time to remove only the diff?). There's just too many questions for me to have peace of mind.

If its ONLY the diff, get the STi, but even then you'll probably end up spending $500-1000 more on an RS rear end, depending on how easy a 4.111 RS end is to source (not many RS's out there, so going to be hard to find)

Personally that's why I've always bought clips that include the entire rear end assembly, just to be done with it, and to insure that all driveline ratios are properly matched.

I'm going to call both guys tomorrow what questions do I need to ask? the guy with the WRX sent pictures of the vin were would it tell me the month? I know the wrx is a sedan because of the GC8 but I need to find pictures of the sti I'm not sure if there was a picture of the vin. and I though with the rear diff all I'd need is the tranny and LSD axles in the rear and the rest I can use my old stuff?

soo I need to ask the Sti clip guy.....
if theres pictures of the vin or if its a gc8?

and the wrx clip guy.......
if its a late model ((unless you guys can help me decode the vin))
if the whole rear end is included?

is this all i need to ask ?
if the whole rear end is included?

so if it all turns out then I should...
if its a late model wrx then get the wrx one?
if the whole drive train and rear end is included get the wrx one
if the whole rear end ISN'T included get the Sti clip?

if I get teh STi clip does this mean I can't use the tranny thats included? or do I have to sourse a diff that matches final drive?

on a side note if u look at what everyone drives thats posted in here its been a 94 impreza with the exception of Kostamojen

Get the sti, you'll have bragging rights . You can go down to the local junk yard and look for a lsd differential from an old XT turbo, swap in the right pion probably for under a hundred bux.
