Default 2.5 RS kicked ass at So. Cal Porsche Fun Run

Today I ran a "Porsche Fun Run" in my stock MY00 2.5 RS (only non-Porsche there) and met up with people at the top of Stunt Rd. Everyone in their Porsches laughed at my car and one guy even had the nerve to called it an "econo-box." Once my brother and I got there all the cars left for more canyon driving. It was the GT2 first then me then the "econo-box" guy in his V8 Porsche (928 S4) then about 20 other Porsches behind us. The GT2 lost us in about 2 secs but as I started going all the Porsches started falling behind me in my "econo-box". When we regrouped the V8 Porsche guy took back everything he said about my car.

The point of this WAY TO LONG thread:
I BEAT 20 DIFFERENT PORSCHES AND NO PORSCHE(except the GT2) COULD KEEP UP WITH MY SUBARU

70% driver, 30% car.

You also might want to rephrase your subject. At first I thought the porsches outdrove you.

i went to the Porsche/Ferrari "First Run of the Year" drive this year, and outperformed most of the porsches there.

most of those drivers are more worried about looking cool while driving than driving fast.

Few, if any, drivers of expensive sports cars are good drivers - this is my unqualified, totally subjective assessment. Vipers, 911 Turbos, most Corvettes, M5s WRXes (Ha-kidding). The cars, such as they are, are not really sold to driving enthusiasts. They are sold to people who want to have something that others cannot. Real, hardcore performance cars are too expensive and/or limited in production that it is usually only by coincidence that they are driven by people willing and able to push them anywhere near the limits of ordinary cars, not to mention supercars. I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone in a "top 10%" kind of car blow past me on the freeway, only to lose their nerve at the offramp. Sure, I'm jealous, but the good life is about getting what you want, not what you need, or can handle. I'm not sure it'd be a good idea for me to have a GT2, even if I could afford one. Really, it's just good to see them on the roads. It's encouraging the design and marketing of sports cars that are more accessible, and unlike the Escalade or Yukon Denali, I can see over/past a 360 Modena.

Hehe. When you're driving a 70g + car, you're not about to risk totaling it to show off.
