Arrow Graham Goode Short Shifter Owners Read

Is it just me or does my short-shifter make a 'grinding' noise during acceleration.
A long time ago (i couldnt find in search) Imprezer said that the grinding is the shifter rubbing against some metallic part. I've had my car for about a year, shouldn't it have rubbed away by now?
Is there a way to fix this? That "gzzzzzz" noise is really annoying

Sev,
all the shifters that do not have the rubber bushing, like the stock shifter, will transfer road noise
there isnt a solution for this problem just yet, but i'll see if i can find a way to isolate the noise a little better

hey tom
do you mean the stocker rubber bushing compared to the "CUSCO shifter bushing" or the "kartboy bushing?" Is that what kind of bushing your talking about?

Cause I have the CUSCO bushing installed

sev,
it is the rubber isolator the is in the SHIFTER itself. not the shifter linkage bushing that i manufacture.

kartboy..
does this happen to your shifter as well?
im not trying to question your products but if all of them have it, it's not your fault.
can u whip us poor shifter owners something cheap but effective?

Sev,
Open up the thing. there should be this metal curve thing that rubs the linkage. Just use a plier or something to bend it a way. voila no more grinding.

Hmmmmmm... I've got a Kartboy shifter & Cusco bushing and I get a strange tapping against the body come from around the shifter area once in a while under hard acceleration. Any ideas, Tom? It's on a MY00 with about 4200 miles.

it might be the shift linkage tapping on the4 metal plate that Gambit described along with the mushy stock tranny mounts that let the whole drivetrain float in the chassis. if this dosent help email me and i'll help you out

Tom - I figured as much... I can live with it as it is now as it isn't severe or common, though in the future I'll upgrade the mounts and if it is still doing it then, I'll pop ya off an email. I'm thinking what'd probably fix it is a slight pry up on top of the linkage to bend the body there upwards a touch... like anyone would ever see that there.

Unhappy

My $400 Syms Kit did the same thing. The grinding/vabration noise was more noticable when transmission breaking. Kinda embarrassing for a new car to make that noise.

When I first put my kartboy shifter in it would make a horrible rattling noise under half to full throttle acceleration. All I needed to do to fix it was keep tightening the nut from the shift linkage to the shifter lever a little bit at a time until it went away, but shifter movement wasn't too rough. It might be something as easy as that if you haven't checked.
