Question How would you rank these on looks??

Based solely on looks, no mods AT ALL.

Subaru Impreza RS 2000
Honda Prelude 2000
Toyota Celica GTS 2000
Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 2000
Honda Civic Si 2000
Acura Integra GSR 2000
Ford Probe GT 93
VW Golf 2000
Ford Escort ZX2 2000
Dodge Neon R/T 2000

LOOKS ONLY PEOPLE. They are doing this at Club Si, and man, they like some ugly cars.

My picks in order and brief comments:
(oh yeah, you forgot the Focus and Cougar. I'll add them)

Subaru Impreza RS 2000
-- back end isn't anything to be proud of, but the rest is great.

VW Golf 2000
-- conservative, effective. I like that.

Ford Probe GT 93
-- not bad.

Honda Prelude 2000
-- headlamps a bit iffy, but everything else is fine.

Acura Integra GSR 2000
-- old but okay. I like the JDM headlights better.

Ford Escort ZX2 2000
-- um, it's an escort and it looks like one.

Dodge Neon R/T 2000
-- bleh. the older Neon was better.

Honda Civic Si 2000
-- it's a civic and it looks like one, which is worse than an escort on looks alone.

Toyota Celica GTS 2000
-- I just hate the headlights and the rear end looks strange.

Ford Focus ZX3 2000
-- can't stand Ford's New Edge styling crap. Flares in particular are tasteless, just like the 99- Mustange.

Mercury Cougar 2000
-- again the New Edge sucks. what the hell is up with the hemispherical protrusions on the head and taillamps?

Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 2000
-- this one is wrong, so wrong. slightly more attractive than a late model Gran Prix

Based on looks only:

1. tie-Subaru Impreza 2.5RS & Toyota Celica GT. The RS is conservatively aggressive, while the new celica is just different.

2. Ford Puma - the smaller European version of the Cougar-what the ZX2 would have been if Ford knew what was good for them.

3. VW Golf - nice design that is both efficient and effective without being offensive.

4. Ford Probe - although dated, it was sporty for its time.

5. Acura Integra - For the Love of God, please update the body style, I am tired of looking at it.

6. Honda Prelude - I don't know what they were thinking at Honda when they went from the last design to this one.

7. Honda Civic - Ditto on the Prelude, the headlights make it look like some kind of repulsive insect.

8. Dodge Neon - The car that says "hi" from every aspect. Need I say more?

9. Ford Escort ZX2 - Instead of the Puma we get this silly looking econobox.

10. Mitsubishi Eclipse - I think they were hitting the crackpipe a little hard at Mitsubishi, the designers seem to love gaudy plastic body cladding. The Eclipse went from a sleek looking sporty hatchback to a bloated sports coupe, talk about anti-design.

11. 2004 Ford Taurus - rumor has it that Ford has lost so much money (in the design phase-only Ford could manage this one) that they are just going to slap Taurus badges on a cheaply made Volvo. I can't wait for the next generation Boxy-Taurus (ironic since the 1986 Taurus is credited for the re-emphasis on aerodynamics and the 1996 redesign redefined the use of ellipses).

These are my opinions, and you know what they say about opinions--I do not mean to offend anyone, so please take it with a grain of salt if you drive one of these vehicles that I critiqued harsly.

I don't remember a lot of the shapes so I'll do the ones I know...

Ugly as hell:
Toyota Celica GTS 2000
Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 2000

Not quite ugly, but close:
Ford Probe GT 93
Ford Escort ZX2 2000

Blah:
VW Golf 2000
Dodge Neon R/T 2000

Nice, nothing too special:
Honda Civic Si 2000
Acura Integra GSR 2000

Best:
Subaru Impreza RS 2000
Honda Prelude 2000

And if I may add, I want to the GTI VR6 onto the Best list as well as it can look great too.

on a scale of 1-10

Subaru Impreza RS 2000 10! of course, (hood scoop and front clip say to you, lets go make a BMW look silly)

Honda Prelude 2000 8 (very sleek, but reminds me of a door wedge!)

Toyota Celica GTS 2000 10 (nice eye candy, and yes, I too fall for the hood scoop every time.....)

Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 2000 4 (only low price and V6 will save this thing)

Honda Civic Si 2000 2 (a bland sedan it gets lost in the mall parking lots)

Acura Integra GSR 2000 7 (any new on giving 'ol granny here a fast lift?)

Ford Probe GT 93 6 ( I must admit that for a ford it looks....ok)

VW Golf 2000 ( If it went by to fast(which won't happen) you could mistake it for a geo metro)

Ford Escort ZX2 2000 1 ( I would rather push my impreza to work than drive this thing)

Dodge Neon R/T 2000 4 (uh....no comment)

Question

OK, my picks, from the list:

Subaru Impreza RS 2000
Ford Probe GT 93
Toyota Celica GTS 2000
Honda Prelude 2000
VW Golf 2000
Ford Escort ZX2 2000
Honda Civic Si 2000
Acura Integra GSR 2000
Dodge Neon R/T 2000
Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 2000

The inclusion of the Probe GT in this list intrigues me. All the other cars are 2000 models. I know they don't make a Probe anymore, so you can't ask about a 2000 Probe, but why include it in the list?

I had a '93 Probe GT that I traded in on my '00 RS, so I'm always sensitive to discussions regarding the Probe. I loved mine (both looks and performance), and I notice that they seem to elicit either a love it or hate it response from most members of this board.

I have noticed this about preludes, and was wondering if anyone else had. When you see one behind you at night the headlights are shaped just like the old preludes with the flip up lights. Just a simple observation. I like them, they just cost a little much for me. That, and I'll never get another car that isn't "All We'll Drive".
