Default Spring WRX Road Trip to Imprezafest

I am interested in seeing how many of you would be interested in going on a one to two week NESIC road trip in the spring. We could do a loop into the Mid or South West, plan the trip around attending some events and organize some meets with other NASIOC chapters. We could camp out and stay in budget hotels. With some planning it could be a lot of fun. I was watching that video clip put together by some of the folks on the Mid Atlantic forum called 211 Teaser and it got me all fired up to hit the road.

www.subaru.awdcars.com/index.htm

then click on 211 Teaser

A good destination would be key to attracting any sort of numbers into this trip and Imprezafest sounds like a appropriate destination.

Well, that sounds cool...we just have to pick a one-two week period...we should also do some research about what events are happening during that time period...

just check out the site, i believe it has an schedule of all the events. The track has a road course, so it seems quite appealing.

It would be fun to come back via a Southern route so we can take a couple of days to drive through the Smokey Mountains and up the Blue Ridge Parkway...incredible winding roads, some great camping, too.

i'm a big fan of road trips, i took one to TX two months ago, that was in a Nissan Sentra rental what a piece of.... I'm looking for a good excuse to take the new Suby on the road. Although I'm sure the allure of Montreal will win me over before this trip would occur.

I think it would be fun to plan this out, organize meets, places to camp, I have driven through the Smokeys in a WRX, and it is a blast, especially early in the morning when no one is on the road...it would be cool to have some racing events to attend at different points of the trip.

Ok,
I found the post on wrxtuners.com about the meet, its basically the whole brainstorming process into the final details.

wrxtuners post

I want to take a week off from work and go, i just want to make sure other guys want to take the trip with me. Since we have such a headstart, i think with proper planning, this could be really fun. I was reading other regional posts on nasioc about the imprezafest, and it appears a lot of regions are doing their own road trips into the meet.

I'll be in Toledo for the ProSolo the weekend before Imprezafest. Road trips are quite fun.

Would one of the moderators please "sticky" this thread?

I know we have plenty of time to plan this out but we should break down down the "organizing" of this, each picking up aspects of planning.

Tim from www.wrxclub.org has offered me use of his site for additional space to post itinerary, maps, etc. However I would like to keep coorespondence here on NESIC, using NASIOC for outreach.

So we need people to pick up the following roles:

Event researcher--to search for events occurring in different areas during the week before Impresafest and the week after the meet ends. These would included racing events already planned that we might want to enter.

NASIOC event coordinator(s)--performing the outreach necessary for setting up meets and events with other board members. Posting on other regional boards. This person should take on finding out what people want to do when.

Lodging Researcher & Coordinator...self explanatory...finding the best campsites for a few nights of camping out.

Route planner(s)

There are probably other roles I am missing...please chime in and let me know what you are interested in doing.

We also need a trip organizer, which I will offer to do, pulling people together, to perform various tasks.

Alright, enough hiding from the folks, time for holiday crap...I am probably going to check in tomorrow but won't commit to do so until the 27th...who knows...driving down to NYC, in an hour.

Happy Holidays!

Well...if we don't find stuff that is already set up, we will set up it ourselves...we should be able to put together a meet a day--it would be cool if we organized the trip over the course of 7-10 days so that we only have to drive 3-4 hours on highways per day. Rain or shine we can always meet other NASIOC members for dinner (or even jump off a trestle into the local swimming hole...lol)

Whit: (spoken with old Western accent) I reckon you think you're funny, Dave, cause there ain't nothin' I hate more than Corvettes. There is two types of Corvettes, Dave--old Corvettes with old problems and new Corvettes with new problems. You want reliability, buy a horse, Dave. I ain't got no business in a Corvette museum...I'd be muttering, sputtering and cussin' the whole time...

lol
