A few of the Northeast guys are going to meet up next Sunday morning after the rally in Wellsboro for sort of a mini-meet around 9:30am or so by the McDonalds at the end of town. Anyone else plan on going to the rally next week?
There was like 20 or so RS's floating around town last year so maybe this year we could get a half decent meet together for all the rally fans to check out. Anybody?

I'll be coming up from Houston. I'm on Scott Leonard's Rally team. See http://208.9.184.67/NonCGI/Forum1/HTML/008592.html
I won't have my Scooby but I'll be there. |

Doh! I saw your post right after mine appeared. Anyway, the rally itself should be awesome with all of the cars that are going to be there. STPR is just a blast. The meet should be cool to as there are at least two Minnam Stage two guys that are going to be there and many more other Imprezas that I know of. Maybe we could coax Eurosport to bring their 300hp Open Class Impreza by as well
Good luck in the rally. |

Shik,
I was thinking about it too... Since I've never been to a SCCA rally, I was wondering what was the difference between the Canadian Pro Rallies... Is there a hotel where most Subaru's are staying at? Let me know... Thanks. Robin National Capital Subaru Club www.ottawasubaru.com |

Shik, come look me up, Steve Nowicki, car 567, which was supposed to be an Impreza, and a last minute problem forced me into a Talon in GT class. I am currently building a 2.5RS and will have it completed at the end of August. I am interested in meeting all the Impreza owners that will be at the event, and checking out the performance enhancements everyone has done. My car is currently 3000 miles away from me, and need to get familiar with the car. This will be a really great evnet, the best rally field ever seen since the sport officially began back in 1973!!!!+
PS. My pick of the rally will be Peter Cunningham in a LHD Evo. |

I don't think I am going to be able to make the Sunday meet, but what about getting together Sat for the rally and cruising to a stage or two to check out the racing?!

Jeez, to be honest, I wasn't really expecting anyone to reply, glad to see there are a few rally fans( and participents
)Robin2, I believe a few of the Impreza guys are staying at a Comfort Inn somewhere outside of town. There is also the Penn-Wells Hotel right in town, but I would be amazed if they have any vacancy left but you never know. If you want to see a good example of an SCCA rally, STPR is one of the best( so I'm told from a few racers). Steve, I'll definately look for your car. Too bad the RS wasn't done yet but I'm sure there will be enough of them to look at up there anyway Good pick for the winner btw. It's bad enough that the Lancers are winning everywhere else in the world( in Group N anyway), now they are invading the US. Rotten Mitsu's!! ( Just kidding, actually I love the Lancers).Nat, that's a decent idea. We usually park somewhere in the vicinity of the Green( Town Park where Rallysport will be). So if you have a Subaru, park somewhere around the Green early Saturday morning and maybe we could all hook up and check out each other's rides and discuss who is going to which stages. I will have the black, somewhat loud Legacy Turbo with black wheels and there will probably be two Rally Blue RSs with me( AB and Dave98RS) so look for us.A few quick tips for first-timers. Wear pants, just because you will be standing in the forest with poison ivy, ticks, and other creepy-crawlers ![]() Have a coat or sweatshirt in the car, as it could get quite cool in the woods, especially towards evening. Make sure your car has lots of gas. If you plan on buying anything from Rallysport( www.rallysportonline.com ), give them a call before the rally to make sure they will have it there as it is impossible for them to bring everything they have in stock. As I've said before, they are a great bunch of people and they are a sponsor for the SCCA Pro Rally series so It's nice to "give back" in a way. Buy a program Saturday morning as it has the directions to the spectating stages. Unless it is someone you know, DO NOT follow the guy in front of you who *thinks* he knows where he is going. Follow the notes in the program. It would be nice if we can really get a nice turn-out for this thing. I mean, what better way to represent Subaru then at a rally!?! ![]() |

Shik.....where can you get the programs to get to the stages? I went last year but followed another person around, so didn't need to find one. I'll definately be there as early as I can be in my Silverthorne 99, I have a sedan wing on my coupe so if anyone sees me yell so I see you. It was a blast last year, loved seeing the Evos and Hyundai's flying around corners..nothing like the sound of big boost from a long distance away! Anyway I hope to see a bunch of Subies there. Other than Carlisle this year, last years STPR was the biggest group of RS's I have seen, aggggghhhhhhh <=drool like Homer Simpson!

Thanks Dobes. To be honest, I forgot what kind of building it was.
Nat, i know what you mean about the sound of the cars, especially the top guys with the anti-lag systems. I stood next to Choiner's Tiburon last year for 5 minutes just enjoying listening to it idle! Just a quick look back at an awesome moment last year. We were standing on the mountain on the other side of the water crossing where it is basically the side of the hill, the road, then a decent size drop continuing down the hill. The fella( whose name ecscapes me at the moment) that was renting the Lancer EVO V from VSC came around the first turn with his left rear wheel hanging off over the drop-off on the other side of the road and he never lifted! All fours wheels spinning( only three with ground underneath them though) with flames shooting out of the exhaust, cracking and banging like crazy and he just kept his foot planted!. Although it is not a WRC event, it is absolutely fantastic nonetheless. Sorry for another long post ![]() Anyways, again, if you are going to be there Saturday morning, if you want, park around the "green" and we can all meet up. Hopefully I'll have some old WRC sticker sheets to give away if any of you guys want some. There will still be the meet on Sunday as well. |

I called most of the hotels (from the website) and they said "all booked". I don't know if they're reserving all the rooms for the rally and not letting anyone to book a room...
I might be just camping it anyway. At $16 (for 2) per night sounds pretty cheap... and it's only 9 miles from Wellboro... If anybody knows of vacancies, let me know. Thanks. Robin National Capital Subaru Club www.ottawasubaru.com |

I'll be staying at the Comfort Inn...we'll be getting there Thursday...
I soooooo want to drive up in my Sube but I gotta take turns driving up there. (Still contemplating...depends on how many of us will be there) Anyway...I believe we'll also be at Sunday morning's Pizza & Wings Party (1:20AM), the awards, and maybe the brunch... Even though I'm crewin' for a Mitsubishi (Scott Leonard) I'll try to wear Sube stuff for i-club identification... ![]() I'll have my cell phone on the whole time up there so drop me a line anytime @ 832-725-4308. Tre' Update: Just saw that it's 1683.75 miles and over 25 hours to get there from Houston?! Looks like my next purchase is a car cover for the trip..lol |

For me it's only 5.5 hours from Ottawa Canada. I have a silver 99 RS with a www.ottawasubaru.com sticker in the back window.
I'll have my subaru rally jacket too... Robin |

Sounds like it could shape up to be a decent meet. So, Saturday morning, in the vicinity of the "Green" (town park). We'll be there.

Shik ~~ Saturday morning, what time? I'm thinking about trying to head up there Saturday morning. Will I be even able to drive/park close to the green? I'm not going to come up Friday, and I'm worried about finding a place to crash Saturday night.

I see in the schedule it's the park expose around the green at 8:50am but they didn't have any directions....
Some would be helpful.... By the way, I reserved a tent site at: Canyon Country Campground Rt 660 West Wellsboro (570) 724-3818 Robin |

Unless you're there REAL early, you may not get to park too close to the green - they do the park expose angle parked around the green --BUT the beauty of the center of Wellsboro is - it is not a very big town!! A block or two away is not far to walk.
The charity TSD rally is like a championship regional in 60+ miles, great fun, great prizes, & usually some Nat'l class competition!!! Workers get to two parties (Fri pm & Sat-Sun race final, some souvenir, interesting places to stand, AND usually stage cap'ns who'll get you to other places to watch!! |

Suber is right about the town( What is it, four blocks long maybe
), so just about anywhere you park, you'll probably see other Sube guys. We hope to be up there by 8:00am Saturday morning. I cannot wait to see the ex-Prodrive Group N Imprezas! Maybe we can get them to come by the mini-meet on Sunday ![]() |

Hi guys,
I have been going to STPR since the late 80's and am a 'professional' spectator by now. Anyone who needs any specific tips or questions answered can email me, I don't check this board with great frequency due to life's obligations. Parking around the Green is difficult. Park on the side of town you plan to exit from to get to whatever stage you're going to watch from i.e. water crossing stage head south out of town, most other stages leave to the west. If anyone is coming friday I heartily reccommend the TSD rally, it's all dirt and lots of fun, speeds are quick but not terrifying. There are absolutely NO places to stay in or close to Wellsboro as the rally participants, workers and spectators have filled it up. There is one place that *may* have some spots, it is several miles out to the west near Galeton, I stayed there once. Knob Hill Motel, 814-435-6738. Suggested supplies: dust mask, heavy jacket (even in summer), bug repellent, scanner (frequencies can be obtained at registration), food & water, flashlights, something to sit on (ground can be damp), rain gear. Don't go home when it gets dark, the after dark display of lights and glowing brake rotors is almost better than the daytime! I will be there in a beat-up VW Golf with 4 Hellas on the front, a skidplate made from a road sign and "co-driver wanted" in the rear window. See us at the TSD and say hi! |

LOL, yeah, something like that. It's not even my car. If you want to see pics of it and some other non-Suby content you can visit my website http://www.mongrelmotorsports.homestead.com and yes, I will eventually get a Suby page going, they take a lot of time to build and you'll see I'm not making lightning progress...
