Arrow H6-3.0 at Paris Motor Show

H-6 internals. Subaru coverage. The European engine is rated at 209HP vs. 212HP for the NA market.

From the 2000 Paris Motor Show on CarPoint. Also see Edmunds for coverage (though no Sube photos yet).

Enjoy.

..Mike

no dice on the H6 in the impreza. The Forester can and should get the H-6 soon. The 01' was a redesign to aquire the room required.

Well the H4 BARELY fits. Try this simple test. Got to subaru dealer. Have 01 forester and 01 2.5RS parked side by side. Pop the hoods. See the complete and utter lack of room under the impreza hood in comparison to the Forester. The legayc also seems to have a good 6-12" more room ahead of the motor, and more hood clearence than the impreza, but its been a while since I poked my head under the hood.

I think AT BEST, you will find the same problems doing a H6 swap into the impreza that I am having with the H6 into old wagon swap, other than the fact I have more room at the firewall and a higher hoodline.

My point is that if you want a H6 impreza, just get a Forester, as they are very closely related, and will be alot less work to monkey with. Just as I would get a XT6 next time instead of trying to stuff the bloody motor of one in my car.

My local dealership people are going to a test of the H6 at Route 66 Dragway in the next few weeks. They're going to experience it first hand and drive the new Forester with it in it. I'll tell them to bring back and literature they can for me to scan in for everyone.

Couple things...
Correct me please, but isn't the H6 only and inch of so longer than the 4???
Also, I read the new Car and Driver and the Outback H6 0-60 is I think 9.3 secs...bit on the slow side. I would have hoped the new engine would be a bit faster.
Anyway if I am wrong let me know...(like I have to say that)

Talking

Don't let Car & driver fool you they compared it with the performance numbers of an Audi 2.8 Quattro 5 speed, why?
the Outback is Auto, heavier and less aerodynamic.
when it will find its way to the Legacy GT, with 5 speed (?) then it would probably be in the low 8 high 7.

Cool

i saw an H-6 3.0 outback VDC on the road up here last month!! Man did the thing haul ass. The guy freaking hammered it off the line. Smoked the exploder beside him. I actually know someone who worked on one. and drove one. SOC has one up here for some testing and letting all the big shots at SOC drive it. Nice car! if it was a 5-spd the thing would be sweet!! It was that green colour! Nice. They changed the wheels a bit. Kind of took the 2000 outback limited wheels and broke the spokes into 3 instead of 2. Looked nice with the gold accents. I think they are only h-6 wheels though!

:P i saw one in person. I was walking though! Should have hitch hiked. Oh yeah he flew past me! I was about 100 m from the light and he must have been at about 100 kph already
