How strict are the Mass. police when it is regarding tint? I am moving there from AZ and my windows are darker than the MA law allows. I am going to have the rear windows redone, but I would prefer to leave the rear glass alone due to the defroster lines. Do you need to have the car inspected when you register? Also, what are car reg. fees like? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Curt

Not sure. MA cops are pretty mean though, I'll tell you that much. Moreso in the cities of course, but then again... most of eastern Mass. IS a city.
In NH, you cannot tint anything other than the rear window and backseat windows (or rear quarter windows, depending on what kind of car you have). Front side windows are illegal to tint. And maximum tint allowed is like 60% or something (pretty light). Maybe higher. The tint laws may be more lenient in MA. -S2- |

As with most laws it all depends on how much time the cop has to waste writing a ticked and pulling you over for something that isn't that big of a deal. I live on the CT - MA line, and I haven't had any trouble yet (knock on wood). for the most part they will leave you alone, unless they have a existing reason to pull you over, which makes the tint icing on the cake.

JD, not to blast you, but the cops wouldn't have to pull you over if it were legal and they couldn't issue a citation if it were.
One less thing to worry 'bout. ![]() By the way, I have 50% on my black RS all the way around. I could have gone darker, but I don't have to worry 'bout being pulled for nothing or illegal tint, especially when i need to catch a plane someplace and I'm running a few min late. |
