Thanks for going through the work to make the patterns. Me being a newbie here I have not seen how these look or any others look on the car. I have seen the splash guards in the Subie brochure. I can easily fab these or others but would like to see pictures. If possible please post some pics with them on the car. I was also thinking of making a set with stainless steel backing up a tough plastic or rubber material.

Question

NU,

How exactly did you make these templates? Did you just measure the originals and then use PSP to draw it or what?

The front one looks a little odd, is it possible to see these on a car? Does anyone have a pic of them on an RS?

And where do you put the holes for the mounting brackets? Does anyone know how to make brackets?

If you mount the front flaps like they're meant to be mounted, you better not have tires wider than 205mm and you better have WRX rolling diameter (205/50-16) or shorter. Otherwise you'll rub the flap at or near steering lock.

Here's the deal: these are the flaps as I found on a Japanese Impreza site... the fronts ARE different than the ones I've seen at Challenger Deep and the like, but I actually think these will fit better. The rears are identical to what I've seen. I made the orginal templates in cardboard from (honestly) VERY painstaking measurements and a lot of math from a photo of these 'new' STi flaps (the pics were NOT straight on unfortuanately, hence all the math). I then made them in PSP yes, using all the measurements off of the templates against the rulers in PSP. I actually am going to add the holes as soon as I have a few moments.... The pics have WAY too many holes in the flaps, and I'm not sure why. I want to get the templates out to the car and figure out where the holes should be. I got my material from Susquehanna today, so I'll have pics soon. As for the hardware... that won't be so easy! It's been a LONG time since I did any metalwork.....

Well.... I don't think I want to get quite that involved with it; I've got the webpage going, and it will have all the part numbers and instructions you should need, and you can always ask me for help... I can but try. I already have 2 jobs, not sure I want a third....

Looks like i found my next project!

Will you be putting patterns for the metal pieces up, for those of us that do work with metal? Do you know what type metal is used? From the pic, it doesn't look too complicated to replicate. The main thing is all the little bits, like the clip nuts.

Again, thanks for all the work so far.

Note to all - you might want to try getting the material you need from McMaster Carr ( http://www.mcmaster.com ). I've gotten other hardware through them and they are fantastic.
