That sucks. At least you found your problem. Remember to clean all the mating surfaces really well or you'll be doing them again in short order.

It took me more than an hour to thoroughly clean all surfaces when I had IM gaskets replaced. Take time.

Valuable lesson learned today... I thought my IM upper gaskets were shot, so I tried only taking the intake manifold off without the TGVs and well.... it's pretty much impossible.

I also found out a good thing by taking the whole assembly off too, my upper gaskets are fine, but my TGV -> block gaskets are shot on the driver side.

Now I have to pick up those gaskets from the dealer tomorrow.

CEL is back even after all these.....

New O2 and coolant temperature sensors
MAF sensor from 07 STI
Low mile FPR, MAP sensor.

Last thing I am going to try is installing flow tested / cleaned pink injectors before bringing my car in to the dealer.

Everything back together, and it runs great. AFR and psi at idle is perfect.

Just went out for a test drive and nothing went wrong, and no CELs.

List of actions I have done on my car to eliminate P0171. So far no luck.

Guys, here is an update.

Before throwing on a set of flow tested injectors, I decided to give one more try by installing another 07 STI MAF sensor.

Amazingly, car did not throw CEL and my OBDII reader is showing all as being "READY", which has never happened before. Always had 2 or 3 showing up as not being ready.

Probably too early to tell, but it's certainly encouraging news.

good stuff, i figured what my problem was it wasnt getting solid ground on my intake manifold since it was powder coated so i sanded down the powdercoat and hasnt come on so far and plus i realized my start up issues is because of my tune i have the ap stage 3 map but i dont have tgv anymore but i left the rods in there to make believe its still there so i only have a weird iddle at start up but so far no cel

Drove on highway again today and incredibly CEL didn't come on again!!!

Turned out that I had 2 bad MAF sensors: 1) 02 WRX and 2) 07 STI.

I'm glad you fixed it. There is something depressing about the way this code keeps coming back.

Thanks - you must wake up early as your post was from 5:46AM.

Glad I got one issue resolved; next is fixing thumping noise from rear suspension, which has been another 6+ months problem.

There are at least 5-6 other things besides MAF or O2 you should check. Did you read the first page or review process diagram I posted?

Don't just assume your MAF sensor is good - I've had 2 bad MAF sensors.

Easiest method in my opinion is to use tactrix cable to check all sensors. You can buy a basic cable from eBay for $50, which is what I have.
