Yeah, another yummy Big Buck night is in order for sure! I wasn't at the "grocery store" meet last year, I don't think.

There wasn't a grocery store meet last year Trent. The year prior was the GS meet.

Yeah, someone set up the Big Buck. Reserve a table for like 20 or so...I'm sure we could fill it up.

So who wants to go in on a room w/me??? Ben??? Brett???

I just hope I don't have to do my "speed up along side the semi so the cop doesn't see me speeding already" trick on my way up. I hit the triple digits waaay too fast. He never did see me to radar me though.

I am up for a meet whenever.

I still have my SRT hat that the Subaru reps gave me.

Trent I'm going up Friday morning and am going to try to check into the hotel early. But I won't have any exact times untill Sno Drift posts a schedule. PM me your number and I'll call you when I get more info.

hey guys,

I don't wanna sound like a complete newb, but I'd like to eventually do something like this in the future with my car. I'm clueless about rally's or the SCCA except for RalliSport Challenge on my X-Box I didn't really check out the site too aggresively, but would my daily driver be able to participate without any serious mods (roll cage or such)?

Also, anyone going who is not gonna be involved in the rally? I was thinking of checking this out with a couple of friends of mine. Maybe we can kick it with a few of you guys out there while we watch the cars go zoom in the snow.

I don't think you'd want to start rallying as a rookie in your daily driver because chances are you won't be driving it to work monday. There's alot of prep work that goes into rally cars not to mention time and money. Your better off picking up a beater and going from there.
But if you just want to have some fun with your car you should check out rally-x (like auto-x but in the dirt) its a lot less involved than full blown rally and is safe for a daily driver.

Pick up a copy of the rule book from the SCCA.

but in short, no. performance rally requires extensive modifications to teh saftey systems of the cars, including but not limited to: non-reclining seats or racing buckets, 5 or 6 point harnesses, and a roll cage.

like nate said, find some rallycross events in the midwest or run some TSD events (hit up the school if you're a complete noob, it is boring, but is cheap and will save you a lot of frustration at your first event)

visit http://www.scca.org and http://www.detroit-scca.org for some reading material.

also, come up and volunteer to marshall or something, gets you closer to the action and gives you a few unique oppurtunities to meet the people involved and get behind the scenes a little.

Rally car and daily driver.

Those two words go together like peanut butter and sardines

Rally-X is a much better option for you.

I almost bought a CARS (Canadian Rally Series for those not in the know) P1750 class Honda Civic for my daily driver. Woulda kicked ass to drive around in a fully caged straightpiped Civic in Chicago.

Rami - I'd say to find a rally beater and not use your car since it's a show car as well.

Joe's right. The best way to see a rally is to work it. I know it sounds like you won't see anything but you get to see the cars up close and for more than the split second they fly past you and you learn about the sport alot more that way.

Joe - Are they using the Tag Hauer timing set up like last year??? That was so much nicer than the older way...unless n00b spectators walk through the timing beam...

not to mention if you work you get free entry to the awards banquet and party with all the crews and other workers.

Myk - yes, i beleive the Tag equipment now belongs to rally america and theya re doing all the official timing/scoring stuff for all the rallies now, to the best of my knowledge.
