- Will this engine bolt up to the 5mt without any fitment issues (clutch, etc...) ? I would probably put a better gearset in the tranny for obvious reasons.
- How compatible are the wiring harnesses? If I get the STi's harness/ECU, I just need to wire in the chassis/dash part from the RS, correct? Yes, I know... the wiring will be a pain! - If the RS's exhaust manifold bolts up to the STi motor, and I make a custom up-pipe (behind the crossmember), I shouldn't have to swap out the crossmember... right? - Does anyone know if the STi intercooler will fit in the GC engine bay? Guess that's all I can think of for now. If you have anything to add, feel free. I searched around, and read most of the conversions FAQ, but if you know of any specific threads regarding this swap, please post them. Thanks.

1. It will bolt right up to your existing tranny
2. The wiring is somewhat compatible. You will need the complete STi harness to do the conversion. 3. You will need a wrx or legacy turbo x-member. 4. The STi intercooler does fit. It will rub the a/c line but it will fit. Chris I-Speed USA cescamilla@i-speed.us Last edited by I-Speed USA; 01-03-2004 at 07:01 PM. |

Thanks for the response.
What is different about the crossmembers, other than clearing the up or downpipe? What exactly doesn't fit? |

So as I originally asked, if I do some custom exhaust work, I won't have to swap crossmembers?

well it would cost more in the long run, and you would have to make a complete new intake, you would have to redo the pipes to the intercooler and you would have to do some other **** that is just not worth it.
just swap the damn crossmember. its not that hard. 4 bolts. |

forgot to add, you might run into trouble with the water pump if you use the n/a cross member/
