Question ATT wireless

Hello, I have normal ATT wireless service and have had good experiences with it. I was wondering if anyone had tried their GSM services locally. About 6 months ago the guy at the ATT wireless store told me to hold off for another 6 months because the service was so spotty. So I'm just wondering if anyone has some experience with it lately. I'm looking to get the Sony-Ericsson phone. Thanks,

-Brian

I am still wary of switching from my AT&T TDMA (I think that's what it is) to GSM... I know a guy who has AT&T GSM service and couldn't get a signal this summer in Steamboat, and has a barely usable signal at his shop in Erie (which is somewhat close to civilization, and has a great TDMA signal, and a cell tower nearby).

I think some other carriers have made a real effort towards having good GSM coverage, but my impression is that AT&T hasn't really started yet, except for in the major metropolitan areas.

Sprint is pretty good for PCS coverage. I have a Sanyo flip phone with a built in camera, you can set it to be automatic so if PCS isn't available it goes to the TDMA equivalent. I set it to PCS only and get service pretty much everywhere.
