Question

Phatomdrain:

I have a couple of questions - If I do get the plate number and description of the vehicle and press charges, do I end up in a he said - she said court case if there are no other witnesses? What if the owner of the vehicle denies being the driver and the best I can do is make out the color of hair of the driver as he or she speeds off? Unfortunately in most cases (like mine) the cyclist is trying their best not get run over and can't always make a positive ID of the driver. One last question, if I get a chance to file charges does the driver have a right to know my home address and phone #? My wife does not want these idiot rednecks (who most likely live locally) coming to our house, neither do I.

Yes, This is why I don't road bike. It's NOT worth the risk. Some people are SUCH idiots and 90% drive a car!

Angry

First, don't ever ever "swerve" or "nudge" a cyclist. As someone said, a driver has three thousand pounds of steel and plastic protection. A cyclist has none. This is someones life you're playing with. Do you have any idea what it feels like to crash at 40 mph? Well next time you're driving down the highway open the door and get out. You'll probably enjoy months of physical therapy, skin grafts and quite possibly death. Have a little patience.

I've had people swerve at me, spit at me throw bottles and hit me with various objects while ridding. Once this old man tried to kill me so I kicked his ass at the stoplight. He called the cops and I had to appear before "the man" to explain my actions. Thankfully, whitnesses helped my case and I got off scot free. Anyway, it's not worth it. As a wise man once said, "you just can't justify words with violence." Have a little patience and understanding folks. We'll all get trough this crazy life a little easier.
