Default ej22 into a ej18 is a breeze right

i have a 2.2 and i crashed it and i am getting a 1.8 it should bolt on easily right also do i need to swap ecus

Mechanically speaking, it should be a breeze. If the 2.2 is/was an OBD2, then that'll make the electrical part tricky.

What year was the car that you crashed? If it's a 1996 or above it's most likey going to have OBDII.

eek, maybe he could do it by swapping the intake manifold on from his old engine.

Should be a breeze. I just did the opposite last week, and swapped a 2.2 into a '93 Impreza that had an EJ18. We used the intake manifold from the EJ22, but the wiring harness from the EJ18, with a few connector/sensor/coil pack differences and difficulties that were actually very easy to resolve.
